Michael Holding and Ebony Rainford Brent discuss BLM

Another great piece from Mikey on racism and white privilege.

Had the pleasure of spending some time talkking with him and Ole Mortensen when they were both at Derbyshire. Told me he would had rather been a jockey than a cricketer. 😄
 
Excellent pieces. And people who comes on here and try to pigeon-hole it - "here come the loony lefties again", "BLM is run by terrorists" "all lives matter not just the black ones" - well, they're missing the point. Nasser Hussain aint no terrorist. Michael Holding and Ebony Rainford-Brent: these people are role models, to be respected and what they are saying here is true and needs to be addressed across the whole of our society.

Top man Michael Holding and loves his racing - flat racing, he doesn't do national hunt - and a punt, what's not to like ?

He's very pally with Michael Stoute and is apparently one of the very few that can make Ryan Moore laugh.
 
Holding's reference to the swimming pool being drained because a black man had swum in it. And that's in Jamaica.

And people come on here and says racism is a myth.
 
Mentioned on a different thread a while back the Some of the worst racism I had witnessed was in Jamaica between locals. Actually met Michael Holding and he’s a lovely fella. Still preferred Walsh and Ambrose in the bowling stakes though.
 
Powerful stuff, and a lovely speaking voice as a well as a beautiful bowling action.

I think it is difficult for a white person like me to truly understand the soul sapping impact of racism on black people, never mind the real threat to life of encountering the Police in America on a day to day basis.
 
Clearly not the point but Holding’s action was one of the best of all time. Sheer perfection. I’d have Ambrose above him as a better bowler though. Walsh behind them both. And Malcom Marshall at the top of them all...

As for the other stuff, it was very eloquently covered. Although I can’t help but think those who don’t want to hear will keep looking away anyway.

It would have been if it had happened mate but I believe it's an urban myth and was never said !!
 
Mikey Holding is a wonderful man. But his constant bleating about T20 being the ruination of test cricket is sad to hear.

He says that T20 will ruin Test Cricket. Obviously the purest form of the game T20 is so popular it's propping up all other forms. Especially the BORING game of test cricket.

I'm guessing he says these things because 10 a penny fast bowlers like him, Walsh, Ambrose and Marshall would have been smashed all over the ground in T20. Fact.
