Miles offside

Are we 100% Peltier touched it? I'm not having seen it a couple of times.

Who gives one though? 😁🍊

We’ll get mistakes in out favour.

what always makes me laugh is that the 22 players on the pitch make mistakes all the time but we expect the officials to make zero mistakes ...how will that ever be realistic?
I get what you are saying, but this one was so wrong. I was in line from the opposite side to the linesman and didn't much care that it had gone in as he was miles off. The fact he never gave it was as bad a decision as I've seen in ages.

I don't blame the ref really, but his assistant was lucky he was in the far side as I would have had run down out of the stands to remonstrate with him.

He simply missed the flick on......Geezer probs wasn’t offside from the original cross ....it’s a mistake...simple as that

Also you get what I’m saying but this was SO WRONG??......Yes like plenty of player mistakes or fan’s mistakes on the day

If players make individual mistakes they get criticised and maybe dropped. When four players makes mistakes in the same sequence of play they will be criticised and may be subbed, dropped and would likely lose a game. When 3 out of four officials make a glaring error nothing happens. The refs association and the league always back them up so the officials know that they can f##k up on a regular basis and still be reffing the following week.

Tripe mate, can’t be bothered responding.....us Football fans (me included) pretend to be tough working class heroes but we cry like ** babies who’ve been pulled off their Mum‘s tit when a human being makes a mistake ( and it’s always an agenda against our clubs)........it’s bollox*

* and we ALL ignore the dodgy decisions that go in our favour

we won 2-1 , just be happy

Peltier isnt off from the original cross (he's the man at the near post). Definitely gets a flick that the officials missed. Teams at this level are clued up on getting around the offside trap, just as at Millwall.

Must be old age creeping in as I no longer understand the offside rule. That's Middlesbrough Millwall and Sunderland in cup. Are we just unlucky or other sides know a rule change weve not been told about.

good freeze frame. So Peltier isn't offside as isn't the guy at the far post from the initial crosss and there's loads of players in a line so it would be easy for the lino to miss the slightest of touches that then makes the guy at the far post now offside. Yep, we didn't get the rub of the green here but very understandable how it was missed. We won though so it all turned out ok.

This is a fraction before he crosses it.
A fraction later he is offside, but I can’t be sure as he is out of vision on Lee’s video.
The ball does look as though it’s touched on the way through this making this frame irrelevant.
Hard call in the heat of the moment for the officials so as we won I will forgive them now.

Trouble getting it on my previous post.

I've watched it umpteen times and I can't say I saw an offside for sure, that deflection is very faint - if there is one. Once the ball reached the man at the far post everyone else becomes onside as they are behind the ball.

The real issue for me is why we all seem to step out and then react very slowly.

I've read several messages from people saying all their players were off when the ball came in, which they clearly weren't.

We can't keep relying on just rushing out when an opponent can just have a runner coming from deep to attack the cross unchallenged. It's clearly what they are being instructed to do, but you leave yourself open to a defender being slow off the mark, officials making mistakes etc

The freeze frame is only clear cut if Peltier headed the ball on. If he didn't get a touch the scorer was onside.

This vid has a decent view from the opposite side to us. Jump to 1:50, and play on half speed, you can clearly see the flick on from Peltier. And yes I'm bored 😂

Except as a United fan you're used to getting dodgy decisions in your favour. We never get them.😉🤣🤣

2 stonewall penalties turned down today because the referee wishes he was Ronaldo so hates him and the ** in charge of VAR the same ......but do they have to justify their bent decisions?...no

so you’re miles out Wiz mate

the baffling for me is that the var ref called the ref over to the monitor to see the handball incident because he considered it a clear and obvious error. Yet the second foul on Ronaldo was also a clear and obvious error too but he didn't give the ref a chance to have a look at that one. Thought the VAR ref was very inconsistent in that game.

The next logical step looking at other sports is for the crowd to be able to hear the conversation between the ref and the VAR crew - it's all guesswork otherwise about what they are checking specifically in each incident. I'd speculate that with Ronaldo yesterday, the ref has not given it because he was already going down before the contact and VAR have agreed with that. But without knowing what the officials are discussing, speculation is all we have.
