My [ slightly grumpy] thoughts on todays defeat

Another disappointing game to watch as a Tangerine. We were second best, Oxford passed the ball better, had far more good chances and should have scored more.
Positives
Dewsbury-Hall is the best player I have seen in Tangerine for years. He's strong on the ball, sure footed, moves away from tacklers with ease, plays some wonderful forward passes and has a good engine, lasting the full 96 mins.
Madine scored his goal well . Did he tweak his knee, early on ?
Ronan and Dewsbury-Hall are both good corner takers.
Marc Bola looked to be getting fitter and did better second half
Negatives
Oxfords two goals were simple crosses into the box that we didn't get anywhere near clearing, this was poor - are we missing Ryan Edwards ?
Liam Feeney - he did make the challenge that led to our goal, but he shirked headers, shirked 50-50 tackles and of the four crosses he made, three were dreadful.Surely he is a luxury in a hard fought away battle - should Virtue Thick have started ?
Armand Granduillet looked very laboured today.
I love Jay Spearing and he made a great interception, in the box after about 15 mins but he also gave the ball away in our box in the second half.Is his time over ?
My solutions would be
Start Taylor Moore at Centre Back,Teddy Howe at right back - move Ollie Turton to right midfield - start Matty Virtue in centre midfield alongside KDH
UTMP but we are struggling and need to do better.

Cheers Trev - I think we are missing Edwards although hopefully the young lad from Bristol Citu who I’ve heard good things about will fill the Tilt gap.

Interesting you should mention Teddy Howe - heard a lot of good things about him and I just wonder about Turton at times. Scrafton reckoned we were playing a 4-4-2 yesterday and I think if we play that system then maybe blood the young talent this season. Definitely time to think about next season and use our own players rather than those who might go or the many loans?

We need to quickly stop the rot, whether the short term option is to use existing players with a couple of the new ones who have shown an instant improvement. Some of the new acquisitions will have to play their way in if they are good enough & it may take a while to see what they can offer. We seen to have gone from a reasonable defence to being far to open probably because the players are not acquainted with each other.

One of the reasons that I'm looking forward to Saturday - the commentators were very complementary about him on Saturday 👍
