Mystery that needs solving

Hi. As a ST holder of several years, I went to the Oxford United game on the 1st of February, but need a mystery solving...

On the way south, our coach stopped for a break at Norton Canes Services (north of Birmingham), and lots of supporters of both Liverpool and Southampton were there. Liverpool were at home to Southampton on that day, and it seems odd that the Liverpool supporters were heading away from Anfield, and the Southampton supporters had travelled up from the south to the Midlands, and then heading away from Anfield too!

I hope I've explained this properly, so feel free to reply with the answer to this mystery. If you have any questions too, then please reply.

Thanks from Siegfried.

Norton Canes serves both north and south bound traffic. Glad to help 👍

Had one of my best ever football experiences at Norton Canes going down to Tottenham for a R4 Cup game, when we bumped into a coach load of ManPoo fans heading north for their league match.

We had beaten them in R3 at Old Toilet and took great delight in asking who they had in the Cup that day. The keepnet was well and truly tapped. 😁
