Nathan Jones.

Just had a contact with my mate who is a Luton STH. I asked him about Jones.
He said that when Jones arrived he kissed the badge and said he was there for the long run.😞
He did well but had a large budget. However when a bigger club came calling he effed off leaving Luton in the mire.
Do we want that type of manager or do we want one like Evo who knows, and loves the club?

As much as Evatt loves the club, if he came here and was a success, would anyone blame him if he then left to go to a team with serious aspirations of returning to the top flight, the division they have been in for years, as Jones did when choosing to join Stoke?
I sure as hell wouldn't, football can be a short career.

Mick Harford had a better win % after taking over from Nathan Jones in his 21 games compared to NJ's 170.

At this point in our club's history we need a manager who'll stick with us for a good few years and help us get back on track. Nathan Jones has expressed regret over the way he left Luton, would he make the same mistake twice?

He wouldn't say to prospective new bosses that he was only taking the job until a better one came along, would he? 😕

👍

Every manager we've had would have left us if a bigger team had come a long and offered them a job, even Billy Ayre.

It's no different to when we signed Tony Ellis, he left to join a bigger club.

Echo that hairyclam. Think also because Jones has left a good thing at Luton to joining the nightmare that was stoke. He would probably think twice so in effect for a manager to have had his fingers burnt may well make them more loyal and sticking with a club. Saying that I would never begrudge a manager taking a bigger job. That’s what life is about in the working world, progression. I certainly wouldn’t have any loyalty to my employers if a better paid job came along.

Well we’ve had a good few in the past who up sticks and left us, Grayson, Holloway, Megson, to name but 3 I’am sure there’s more it was managers do just like players they follow the bucks.
No such thing as loyalty these days.

Correct, it's called ambition.

I think that's the interesting thing about Luton, how much of the squad that was put together and got promotion was down to Jones and how much was down to those around him etc. The fact Harford got more out of them and Jones wasn't a success at Stoke maybe speaks volumes about him as a coach.
