Negative substitutions

Does anyone else think that he doesn't rate Mitchell at all? Keeps playing Kaikai even though he's been terrible, then when the lad finally gets a start and is one of our best players on the pitch he subs him and put Virtue on the right when he is gash there.
I can’t agree that Mitchell was one of our best players.

He seems to be a “thinking” coach from the European school. We haven’t got good enough players to keep hold of the ball and sit on a lead.

He was better than Virtue who gave the ball away constantly and provided a real threat for us. His pace and him driving at them gave them something to worry about. I dont think it's any coincidence that we went so flat upfront after he was taken off.
Yeah. He was fine and provided natural balance on the left. I just don’t think he was one of our better players on the day. A solid 6/7 out of 10 for me. Plenty of others would be marked the same. It was a good game with Wimbledon deserving their point over 90 mins. But as per my comments above, we should have closed the game out and our tactical substitutions worked against us doing that.

Play offs are out of reach if we continue to draw with average teams. we haven't lost ground on possible sixth place today with the way results went but anything more than that is a pipe dream. need to win the next three. maybe even that's a pipe dream. can't work out whether we are bang average or the system is the problem.

Of course there’s the usual over the top reaction on here, I’d expect no less. Last week we won 3-0 away at charlton, we now draw 2 games and the ‘season is over’ or ‘play offs are out of reach’ ridiculous comments.

However, tactics have to be questioned today and I can’t help wondering what reception Grayson would’ve received if he was still in charge.

I've been crying out for Mitchell to get a start. Today was his chance and he took it well in my opinion but as the game went on you just knew that Critch would hook him. Mitchell did more today than Kaikai has done for most of this season. Time for journeyman Kaikai to pack his bags imo.
Kaikai has scored 3 winning goals for us so far this season, that is 9 points because of him. He has 3 goals, and 3 assists thus far so please explain how Mitchell did anything today which has been a bigger contribution than any of that? He wasn't even involved in our 1 goal.

We need to stop scapegoating players after a bad performance.

Bang average.

Especially when it wasnt a bad performance and people are lashing out in the heat of the moment.

I genuinely believe that we are garbage up front. No saying that our forwards are rubbish players - far from it- I just believe we are a poor attacking team creatively and that is why we invite so much pressure.

I would put CJ on bench Tuesday, hes not ready to start yet.
Play Mitchell & Gabriel as wing backs.
Garbutt lb, Husband ch for thornilly?
Leave Simms & Yates on for 90 mins.
No place for kai kai on his form!

Surely that’s 6 not 9

The problem lies in midfield imo. The strikers will score if the get the service. Yates has scored two great goals recently that he's had to make himself. He can't be expected to do that every match.

I didn’t help us that we had Turton, thorniley and husband as 3 defenders in a back four, that’s not the quality a promotion chasing team should have. But, after we scored we should have been straight back at them and gone all out for a second goal. Instead players start strolling for the ball when it’s out of play and from there we all know how the tactics went and the inevitable equaliser came

In answer to your question, how many games has Mitchell started this season, I think that you'll find that it's less than three. I think that Kaikai has started at least 20 and been found to have been missing in at least 12 of them.
That wasn't the point you made though, you said Mitchell contributed more today than Kaikai has all season which isn't true.

Kaikai's contribution over the course of this season is an entirely different debate and one I'd be inclined to agree with you on mostly, he hasn't been at his best for the most part of it - I personally don't think he's a winger and he goes missing when played out there.

Once Simms went off we had no out ball, yet the keeper was still kicking long, as he did before their goal, it came straight back, into the box, goal.

What's happened to Bez? We needed someone like him to bring on when Simms came off.

With Anderson injured, Kai Kai should be the player to pose that threat in a support role
behind the front 2 or coming inside from the wing, he has scored 3 goals this season, he has
great potential, but in his second season here he has struggled to maintain above
average performances. The team needs a No 10 to open things up and create, myself and
many others are waiting for this to happen. Please step forward Kai Kai.

Turton was average at best, Thornily is not what’s needed at the back, although he’s done ok recently and Husband isn’t really a CB. Garbutt came on and couldn’t get into the game and maxwells distribution let him down for once. We’re at sixes and sevens at the back but have still managed to go on a good run. The full backs for me on Tuesday need to be Gabriel and Garbutt and he needs to stick with Yates and Simms for longer provided Madine is still not ready.

The Football League paper made Thorniley man of the match!
