Neil Critchley on our horror show.

Well it sort of was a 4-1 scoreline Neil because they scored 4 goals and we only scored 1. Thats how they tell who won well and who got beaten badly

He’s right that we did better 2nd half and it would have been interesting if we’d got a second. His answer though appears to be throw in yet more new players and hope that turns out alright. Not easy to keep coming out defeat after defeat...it was an ok interview.

Difficult position to inspire the baying public when the results arent there, his swagger will
Come with wins.

I don’t think NC is particularly charismatic or inspirational. Which in its self isn’t the be all and end all. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. Plenty of successful managers aren’t the all guns blazing, Churchillillian speakers, so if we re waiting for that to happen we may be waiting a while.

What’s worrying me more than anything is the fact he can’t see glaring errors, both in personnel and shape. If he really thinks ‘it’s just not going for us’ and everything’s hunky dory I don’t think he’ll see the season out.

But this glosses over the shocking display pre half time. I would have been more encouraged if he’d have said, there’s clear things he’s seen in the shape and defending we need to work on to stop us needing a monumental effort in the second half.

and that was only for the first 15/20 minutes anyway. We Died a death post 70 minutes.

Was asked about CHs for Crewe. Replied along the lines of "James Husband was suspended today...Daniel Ballard will be available towards the end of the week...Daniel Gretarsson will have had a full weeks training by then..."

Maybe should have been asked "Why play a right back on the left of central defence, instead of left-sided centre-back Jordan Thorniley?" 🤔

Is he Boris Johnson in disguise?
we did ok we didn’t do ok
we defended ok we didn’t defend to well
we did better we could have done better.

nice guy, sure he is a great coach and I hope he sticks around long enough to be a great manager for us.
but not enjoying at the moment

Turned it off after a minute. If that’s what he’s got to say I dont want to fuckin hear it and he sounds more deluded than Grayson.

He's beginning to sound a bit like the guy who does the Tiny Tim kid's voice. Only not quite as cheery nor quite as funny

I thought it was an ok interview. He may have exaggerated the extent crosses were whizzing about the Ipswich goal in the second half but otherwise pretty reasonable assessment.
Today wasn't the worst performance of the season, wasn't even the worst performance of the week. Ipswich were just ruthless finishing.

We couldnt do much worse 2nd half..........
They were just managing the game.........

It’s an absolute nightmare for the bloke tbh....It’s an awful start, he’s not really got any experience to draw upon, the fans (rightly or wrongly) are impatient for success....Hopefully we’ll all be eating our words and things will turn around.
All managers have no experience at the start of their career....
He couldnt have learned from better Klopp......

Seems to like watching the pigeons or looking anywhere but the interviewer/camera.His team talks must a real hoot.Sounds like he could talk a glass eye to sleep!

The start of this season was always going to be a bit a bumpy, I sort of expected it as NCs methods and new signings took shape. The issue is that neither the team or the manager seem to be progressing, each week brings more basic errors and baffling substitutions. We have to allow him some time to find his feet, say 12 games but if we are not seeing some of the seeds bearing fruit we need to get rid, L1 is a tough league, we need the whole group to grow up fast.

He uses the word “um” a lot, I was taught to never trust anybody who “um”Ed me as they were using it to think about their next lie. It maybe an ol wives tale but he certainly umms.
I hope he makes it but???

Today definitely showed how crap our team chemistry is. Ideally we should not have played today, and gone on a team bonding exercise. What Ian Holloway did exceptionally well was bonding the team together, that team that got 39 points in the prem would be prepared to help each other in any situation, unfortunately, Critchley doesn't seem to have instilled any team togetherness whatsoever. If Neil is reading this board tonight, please, please do some bonding sessions over the next week, go paintballing, or go karting, something. When you were at Liverpool managing the U 23's you didn't have to do that because the majority of them have played together for 10+ years coming through the youth academy together, with the occasional younger player getting fast tracked through because they're an exceptional talent, but the core of the team will be close, and as a result the odd player like that will quickly bond with their new team mates.
However we do not have that here. All we have is 20 odd strangers, only a few of which have ever played together, how the hell are you going to expect 2 centre backs to effectively work together if they don't know each other? Ekpeteta for example doesn't know anyone in this squad, how do you expect him to build a solid defensive partnership with anyone? Same with Gretarsson, he's coming from a different country ffs, has he integrated with any of the squad yet?

He’s a decent bloke . Nightmare start to the season . 10-12 league games we will see if it’s working . Too early now

He looks very edgy to me...

I’m sure he’s a very nice man, but clearly he’s struggling...not a criticism..just reality...
He needs an experienced football pro/manager at this level around him ..IMO...

"If we had made it 2-3 it would have been an interesting game"
Of course it would but the fact is we didn't get a second and they got a 4th goal.
I assume it is his normal persona but I'm sorry to say he doesn't inspire much confidence.
If he was genuinely pleased with that performance then it doesn't bode well for the future.
Okay, he said the players were hurting, but he showed no signs whatsoever of being disappointed. On the contrary all he spoke about was how the ball didn't fall for us.
I have always advocated to give a manager time and I have suggested 10 games is a reasonable time.
Question is will Sadler be prepared to continue as we are?
Managers say that teams forget how to win so maybe if we get a win under our belts then, who knows. And why not start with Crewe next week?

‘We were the better team the first 10/15 minutes’ unfortunately Neil the game lasts for 90+ minutes not 10/15.

Sorry but if your 0-3 down at half time......
Your not winning the game......
and with Neils half time team talks i had it down as 6

Klopps kicking his heels at the moment during the international break, give him a call Neil and ask him to come for some inspirational talks with the players, or tell you how to do it.

I’d like to be a fly on the wall in the boardroom.

A couple of things from me. Firstly, Aspie is right, we are not playing as a team with the guts to fight for a result, especially when there are obvious deficiencies in quality. No leadership on the pitch. Secondly, with no crowd there we don't have the chance as fans to lift the players ourselves and encourage them to greater effort. Instead, we watch from afar, can see the obvious flaws and tactical failings and can only become increasingly despondent about them
