Neil Critchley | Sunderland Reaction: "We showed real grit and determination."

I have a bit of a thing about managers and the ridiculous rate that a lot of clubs go through them. Find who you believe to be the right bloke and give him years not months.

OK yes sometimes you have to admit someone made the wrong call, as we did with Grayson. Those situations are usually self evident.

But if the right person is identified, with the full package of ideas and club development, then back them and believe it.

Preston did it years ago with Moyes, they'd had time to look at him and decided he was who they wanted when others were saying he lacked experience. We should have done it with Holloway, and a great what if will be if he'd been able to work for Sadler.

So now we've done it again, properly this time, and SS has found who he believes is the right man to take the club in the direction we all want it to. A wonderful, massive opportunity to buck the current trend and build something special. Won't happen overnight, but we will continue to improve as a club and team.

Personally I think the only thing that can knacker it is when NC gets a job offer he can't turn down. Which of course will happen one day - we're Blackpool not Barcelona, as Sunderland keep reminding us. But hopefully not for a while yet, every time I listen or read Neil's thoughts, it comes across that he's aware as well what's being done, and wants to be part of it.

95% of our fan base loves Holloway for what he did, whether they actually liked him or not. I do have a feeling that in years to come Critch will be on a similar level.

That's a great read.

He talks very well and he's backing the talk up with performances and results.
Exciting times and a buzz every week.
Our club is in a good place right now and long may it continue.

No one has mentioned the free-kick the ref allegedly gave, then didn't, in the first half, when Simms blazed a shot across the top of the goal. I'm sure I heard a whistle, and as both Brett and Chizzy said, it must have distracted Simms. Awful, bloody awful ref.
