New East Stand

Amazing news, it was one of those things you just got used to, but how good would it be finally having a FULL Bloomfield Road - North, East, South and West all having a proper stand. We had a bloody L for about 10 years, we've now had a Temporary East Stand for 11 - that's 20+ years of this Stadium being unfinished.

A club and a stadium to be proud, who'd have thought it eh? My thanks to Sadler and the board for setting this in motion

The council is inviting feedback on the plan here. Always a good idea to show enthusiasm

Ah so they're going for the BOWL are they - The Bloomfield Bowl. It is going to look even more like the Keepmoat than before. I think its smart just to fill it in for now, we don't fill it at the minute but there is always room for expansion if it was necessary.

Looks like with that structure behind the East they're definitely planning on knocking all those houses down then, must have finally convinced the tenants. I imagine Oyston wasn't too hard pressed to pull out of the plans when the price to buy them out started rising, the "hey, I tried" approach.

It's good news week.
Plans for East Stand afoot.
Pathway out of pandemic.
The whole of Spring and summer ahead.
Unlikely to be any more postponements.
The season will now get completed.
Only eight more away games left out of twenty.
Seven of the next ten games at home.
The season is shaping up nicely and we are capable of beating anyone in this league.
Thankyou Mr Sadler...unbelievable how this Club has been transformed in such a short space of time.

This sort of story, and initiative, is very, very encouraging, on so many levels.

I don't think anyone would begrudge the people who live in the Revoe area this kind of investment opportunity. It's been a very deprived area for a long time now.

Its also great to see so many agencies working alongside the Council to make a difference. I've long thought that the town needed a paradigm shift if it was to prosper in the 21st century. This is a start in that direction, hopefully a lot more will follow.

It's especially pleasing to see the football club at the heart of it all. When football clubs first got going in the second half of the nineteenth century they were very often what today we would call social enterprises. That isn't what our club is - or necessarily should be. But it is nice to see some of those socially philanthropic principles in action in a way that will deliver real progress for the club as well as its neighbours.

It is no doubt early days but nevertheless great to hear that these things are being discussed. To get the stadium and new training ground sorted would be an amazing achievement given the current situation.

The full document states that the stadium design is outside the scope of the Councils plan and of course that the club have their own private plans for the development. I suspect that the artists impression is just that and not a specific indication of how it will eventually look.

On reading more of the document at various places I just wonder if maybe there would be space for a new training complex? Just a thought and of course it could well be totally wrong.

Like the pic on P13 with the caption regarding The George Hotel being a "locally listed building with strong archtectural features" Someone obviously forgot to tell the demolition team that knocked it down.

P42..Gives the impression there will be no more affordable housing tbuilt on the old Mecca site along with Henry St and Central Drive housing to be demolished?

great news if true, It will certainly smarten the area up no end. I am surprised the council have not started compulsary purchases of properties at the back of foxhall, its turned into a proper hole recently.

How refreshing to see the club working quietly behind the scenes and working with the council to develop this "temporary" stand. I am sure similar things are happening regarding the training ground. In Saddler we trust!

To properly develop the East stand, and build a facilty for wider use, they need to at least demolish all the properties on Back Henry Street together with the builders yard and the old casino

Bollocks to the east stand Blackpool is a tourist town and all that money should be spent on things for tourists.
Sound familiar 😉😏

Looks like all the properties east of the ground up to Revoe park are demolished. Looking at those plans it looks like a sports hub in the area, with tennis courts next to the north stand car park and a football pitch running north from where the garage is now. What is the building east of the new east stand? An indoor training / sports centre?

A little bird told me about this before the news broke. And the training ground project is practically sorted. After the neglect and downright greed of the Oyston years, we now have the ideal owner and our club is in the best of hands and heading in the right direction. UTP!

A little bird told me that SS is going to buy or has already bought those houses.
On thd plan shown above it suggests all the properties go right up to the road adjwcent to Revoe park, not just those adjacent to the ground. That would require a CPO. I can see all that taking some time.
