New Samsung Phone

I need to get a new phone, but I'm obviously too thick to compare specs and UI’s and so on.
I found Samsung very good in the past, but any suggestions for what I could get would be useful lads. Budget around 500.

Reliable, good battery and a big screen would be a priority.

Also, these little mobile phone shops who say they can get a special price, are they likely to be dodgy?

Cheers, UTP

You can often ssve a lot by not buying the latest version. I got a Samsung Galaxy S20FE last year for your budget and it is a great phone

I've got a Samsung Galaxy A21s Luke. Big screen (classed as a phablet) & best battery life I've known. I'm on/off constantly & get 2 days off a full charge. Excellent reviews & maybe set you back less than £150
Yep, I've got the exact same phone, the battery does indeed last for two days plus and never had a problem in almost a year. they're £135 on Amazon sim free.

There's really no point paying more than £150 for a phone these days. You can read all the reviews and comparisons including flagship phones but in reality the difference isn't noticeable, Mrs Lytham has the Samsung S20 and it virtually the same phone for 99.99% of the time, with the added bonus of if you break or lose the A21s it's only £135. The camera is also quite decent for a phone camera.

Same here. £500 on a phone. Not for me. But we all have different spending priorities 👍

Samsung A12 is another cheap phone at around £160.
It won't get top marks from phone geeks but it's a decent size screen and good battery life.

Yes, got the same on an upgrade. Eight months in and battery life is excellent, despite being on here all day 🤣

So work will pay the first £199, that's why I was tempted to buy a bit pricier. I think my last phone lasted a good 5 or 6 years.

But after googling I can't really tell the difference between

Unless someone more tech savvy can enlighten me, I should probably just get the budget option. 😊👍

If work pay the initial £199 you get a free phone with most of the suggestions on here, then spend the money you've saved on something interesting 👍

Bought a Samsung A52 2 weeks ago for £400 from Samsung direct. Great trade in on old S8 paying me £50 more than ebay prices, a £50 cashback plus 5% off for paying with Samsung Pay+. Great phone and my mate who bought an A12 wishes he had bought one instead.

So (and imagine you're talking to a small child) what does your A52 do that a A12 or A21 doesn't?
