New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

I recommended Goliath in your previous thread. Glad you're enjoying it, we recently got through the fourth season very quickly. We watched Dexter a few years ago, and there's a new season out (Sky Atlantic or Now TV should have it) which looks very good.

Mrs Dave is watching the Handmaid's Tale on Amazon. I find it a good watch but its very weird, which I suppose is the point in a dystopian drama. I'm waiting for Amazon to release the new Jack Reacher series as I've read the books.

Edit, Netflix films - The Harder they fall was good (Idris Elba the bad guy for a change), plus Red Notice which we'll
Thought the first 2 seasons were excellent. Then it got abit strange for me.

It’s silly humour but I’ve just finished the 3rd series on BBC Iplayer of “What we did in the shadows”

It was a recommendation and I’ve really enjoyed it (spin off from the film)

Banshee
Shooter
Ozark
Suits
The mosquito coast
Mr Mercedes
Snowfall
Game of thrones
Sons of anarchy
Alex rider
Gangs of London
The body guard

I got a free 3 month trial with Apple yesterday as I got a new phone so I will obviously be watching Ted Lasso bur we put Acapulco on last night and watched the first 2 episodes and it was decent. Feel good comedy set in the 80’s

There’s a new season of Dexter on Sky Atlantic. I enjoyed the original god knows how many series there was of it. New one seems a bit tame after 3 episodes but is still enjoyable so far.

Nearly fell off my chair!
Great series, sadly season 4 is the last one but I can't wait. As you say the ending for season 3 is the best ending I can remember for anything!

Just watching Bobba Fett on Disney, just as good as the Mandolorian and I'm not even a Star Wars fan

Started the Girl Before last night and turned it off after 10 minutes, what a load of rubbish, who the F would want to live in that house? Completely ridiculous.

Just got Disney for the kids over Christmas. Watched the first Mandolorian and really enjoyed it. Will watch the rest now.

They have clearly put a lot into both series Mac, The Madolorian series is great and so far, 2 episodes into Bobba Fett they have kept up the quality if not improved it. You could easily watch this at the cinema. I would say there is more action in Bobba Fett, but both series are great. Make sure you watch Wanda Vision too, that's great as well.

Just finished The Ozarks on Netflix. OMG how good is that? Not enjoyed a series so much for a long time. Series 4 out on 21/01 too. Cracking stuff if you haven't given it a try.
The Ozarks is brilliant! Thought Peter Mullan as Jacob Snell was superb.

Two things to recommend. On Disney, an Aussie series called Mr Inbetween .. a black comedy about a hit guy. It’s dark and funny and very popular down under. I just stumbled on it and was hooked.

Secondly, Escape At Dannemora on Sky. It’s directed by Ben Stiller and is based on a true story. The characters reminded me of Fargo.

Second that about Mr Inbetween a terrific entertaining show. Side-splittingly funny at times with its real-life observations and truly hard-hitting. Also like the unusual short 30 mins running time of the series episodes suits it 👍

You should give Escape at Donnemorra a try, it’s available on sky catch up. Won’t disappoint!

Was watching an old Top Gear that had Helen Mirren on it. Jezza and her talked about Long Good Friday and how good it was.

It's not available on most streams but I found it on YouTube. 1980. Loved it. Quality with Bob Hoskins as lead.

Long Good Friday is the finest British gangster film of all time and possibly the finest film of all time, possibly second just behind Kes.

Watched Angela Black on itv hub last night. Psychological abuse type thriller. Slow to start but enjoyed it when it got going. 6 episodes, 7.5/10 from me.

Not one mention of the greatest comedy series of all time...there are 110 episodes of Curb your enthusiasm out there and if you have not seen it you will be hooked by the end of series one...comedy genius and far better than anything we have...if you can stand subtitles then Gommorah is as good as it gets...stunning Italian tv

Last season of Ozark starts on Netflix this Friday!!

Anyone started Archive 81 yet? Looks interesting and will start it tonight.

I thought Stay Close was bloody awful. Stayed with it for the comedy effect though.

Script and acting well below par but I think the acting seemed ridiculous because of the weak storyline and script.

Just finished watching 'The Witcher' and 'Stay Close'. I completely forgot me and the Mrs stood watching them film that scene under the pier when we were up there for the weekend. Now watching the latest series of the animated 'Jurassic Park', the Mrs like it.

Another vote for Mr Inbetween, it's both comic and dark and a good watch.
Ted Lasso for me is very hit and miss. Charming in parts and boring and ridiculous in others. The lead character carries it through and i would always watch another series.

I watched 1 episode and gave up. Quality is high these days for things to watch and this was way below standard for me. Couldn't stomach any more.

Just finished The Tourist on I player. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I thought The Tourist was a good idea, poorly executed. Some of the characters were just ridiculous; the police in particular would just not have behaved in the way they were portrayed in the show.

Somewhere in The Tourist's six episodes is a taut 4-episode thriller, but I wouldn't recommend it. FWIW, Mrs Farnorth enjoyed it

Saw Spiral series 4 on BB4 about 2 years ago.......Brilliant
The complete season is on BBC Iplayer...Series 1 is slow....2 goes into Gangs which link into the rest of the series but lots of sub plots.
It's a long treck to watch it all.....I think 8 series with 10+ episodes...but a very good crime/law series....well worth the time....

Looking forward to...."All of Us Are Dead" on Netflix....The only way to explain it is..... Train to Busan in a school with Korean Zombies .......🤗
Look out for the trailer....

Watched Rise of the Footsolder plus sequels (5 in total) throughout last week.
British, extremely violet (not one for the squeamish) really good watch.
I watched the first one recently, are any of those three endings accurate, I don't think we shall ever know really

A few not mentioned in this thread yet that are very good.

Ray Donovan
Homeland
Get Shorty
The Boys
Shut Eye

The Bay is fairly mediocre but it probably worth a watch just for being set in the North Wests Premier seaside resort
