New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

I started watching 4 lives with Stephen Merchant but it was just far too depressing which is why I haven’t watched Anne either, I want there to be some entertainment but those are both too harrowing.

I loved Ted Lasso, it’s like a football Notting Hill, totally inaccurate but very feel good.

Of course Jack Reacher starts on the 4th February too, I hope they get it right.

Comedy genius indeed!! Did you watch the documentary Long Shot? About the guy on death row accused of murder who was able to prove his innocence because he was being filmed on a Curb episode at the time of the shooting? Gripping…
 
Watched the first to episodes of Archive 81 last night. Enjoying it so far. Psychological, dual world, horror type thingy. It's not wham bam act but is creepy, atmospheric and a good story so far. It has plenty of Stephen King references even though not a Stephen King story and it also has a touch of the Ec Machina about it, without the machine!!!
 
Watched the Epstein Filthy Rich documentary on Netflix last night.
Totally cements the view of him as a narcissistic sociopathic paedophile.
 
Don't do series, tv is mainly shit, apart from some of the BBC, Netflix is really shit Amazon Prime is the same as Netflix. Can't wait to start going away again meeting actual people & talking, walking & listening to live music.
 
On S1 Ep4 of Godfather of Harlem on Starsplay. Absolutely brilliant. Forest Whitaker playing 1960s crime boss Bumpy Johnson.

Right up my street. The music is epic too.

I agree but it’s just rude not to watch “stay close” coz it’s filmed in our town Found it quite odd to see the promenade and then the bridge Weird to follow when you live in an incorrect image of the film setting Very Netflixy though
 
Just finished the first 7 episodes of the final season....... FUCK!!!!!

Also finished Arcive 81, really enjoyed it, well worth a watch.

Responder to watch and we are just about to start watching the Korean Zombie series All of us are dead
 
Just binge watched 8 episodes of Cry Wolf over three nights. Channel 4 series which started last sunday.
Very good.
 
Pam and Tommy on Disney Plus has captured my interest. Makes up for me not seeing the infamous tape first time round 😎

Can’t understand how it can be the final season given the ending, too many unresolved issues
 
Watching the new series of Ozark and not enjoying it as much. Don't think the break helped one bit with the storytelling.

Dark Woods (fl- german) on all4 is worth a watch.

Toast of Tinsel town is ace - "George Lucas wants me in the new Star Wars movaay"

Go to say.....It's very average...not great and I know they are just setting it up for part 2........but Meh!!!!

Boba Fett is the 1st Star Wars spin off that's actually crap........not interesting at all

Watching Nightmare Alley tonight...looking forward to it....but ratings not that great

If you like Train to Bussan, South Korean Zombie stuff then All of us are dead on Netflix is worth a watch.

Started Pam & Tommy last night, that's. really well done and been enjoyable so far.

Jack Reacher starts tomorrow, fingers crossed, I hope it's going to be great but I fear it may be shit.

Sorry Dave, I couldn't get into Succession at all.

Can't agree with you about Ozark, it's been great from episode 1 and still is.

I hate Star Wars, I think the films are crap but The Mandolorian and Bobba Fett have been fantastic. Much more gritty and brilliantly done. Wild West ib Space, what's not to like?
 
been watching Snowpiercer - a bit different but alright (watch the movie on Amazon then the Netflix series to give an idea of what's it about)


Nobody with Bob Odendirk (better call Saul) is worth a watch - tongue in cheek and very violent. Mrs H reckons its like an adults Home Alone!

Gold with Zac Effron - what a depressing film

I've watched the trailer, I don't know if I'll be able to get used to a lump of muscle as Jack, after watching Tom Cruise in the role.

American reviews aren't very encouraging. All saying he looks like a chiesiled gym boy and Reacher just isn't that, also he comes over as smug. Too polished rather than the more hoboesque character of the books. Be a real shame if they've fucked it up, it should be a brilliant thing to film but so far the directors, writers, characters are just not getting the Jack Reacher of the books.
 
Haven't read all the posts and I'm sure someone will have recommended it already but Afterlife is absolutely brilliant. Not normally a fan of Ricky Gervais but this is really worth a watch.

Don't prejudge. The reviews are from Yanks.

However, I have an image of Reacher getting off a bus in a desolate place called Preston and if on screen he doesn't look like me I swear I'll do time.

Saw the trailer for Reacher......and having read a few of the books, this guy looks completely wrong.
I always picture a young Clint Eastwood crossed with Timothy Olyphant (in Justified) and a bit of Mike from Breaking bad
This guy looks like a 20 year old high school jock football player....I just hope they follow the books

I’m not a fan of Ricky Gervais either, however in under 5 minutes (people that have watched will what I’m on about 😂)
I thought yeah this going to be good.
Anyone watched Outlander? Series 6 starts in March. Can’t wait.
The Accountant is a good film.
