New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

Alien Earth watch ep 1 genuinely enjoyed it. Got some interesting new ideas and beautifully shot.

But there were one or two eye roll moments but that is likely that I’m a massive fan of the original two films so I’m just been a bit snobby.

8/10 would definitely recommend

You're thinking of the current movie?
It's very good, but Police Squad is the early 80s TV series that started the whole Leslie Nielsen/Frank Drebin thing.

Oh yes I was thinking of the current movie.
But I do remember watching Police Squad when I was younger and thinking it was totally bonkers 🤭🤗

Just revisited something that I gave up on a couple of years ago. The red riding trilogy on Netflix. Why I gave up on it I don’t know, it is the absolute b******s !

Currently enjoying a series leading up to the Battle of Hastings 1066, (as we all know).

King & Conquerer. BBC 1.

A fascinating story about the lead up and I presume the actual battle. It goes to show how little I, and probably most of us, were taught about English History when at school apart from dates and Kings.

The Great Art Fraud
A two-part documentary that tells the story of Inigo Philbrick, a charismatic young Mayfair art dealer with a lavish lifestyle to maintain and an unfortunate habit of selling the same piece of art to more than one client.

Just finished “In Flight” watched over a couple of nights and really enjoyed it.
Set up for a season 2 how it ended but good suspense to be fair

A four parter which had me in tears, yes I know I'm a grown man, was 'I Fought The Law'. ITV.

A true story about a very determined lady whose daughter was murdered and the murderer was found not guilty, twice.

She did not give in and ended up having the 800 year old law of double jeopardy changed.

What a woman, and still alive.
Also every credit to Sheridan Smith who gives another superb performance. Has to be one of the best TV actresses of my time.

Decent start to "The Rainmaker" - series based on the movie / John Grisham book

Watched "Weapons" last night. Watchable film but a bit over hyped based on reviews, in my opinion. Plus I wanted to know more about the Aunt's origins.

Foundation S3 is a bit hard going. As is Alien Earth. Both watchable.

Was a very slow first episode.
Not sure where it goes from here onwards after the events of the first episode (no spoilers)
Done first episode. I think it may be good, but a bit gutted it’s dropping an episode a week and not all on now,as may lose the momentum.
Awaits next week’s ep.

It can be quite good having a week to look forward to a series you get into but like me with lost back in the day also annoying if you’re the impatient kind of person like me
My neighbour fat Jonny does these fire stick things where in a lot of cases you can watch the lot for £70 a year
Don’t know if they are legal but I’m sure fat Jonny wouldn’t get involved if they weren’t
If anyone on here can advise me otherwise I’d be more than happy to destroy the thing even if it meant fat Jonny going to prison
