New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

When is the new series of Virgin River. Supposedly set in Northern California it’s actually filmed outside Vancouver. The scenery is worth putting up with the script for. I replicate an episode, possible past or coming Jo, it really doesn’t matter.

Opening music, mellow, plays whilst overhead scenery shots iare displayed.

Opening scene, set in riverside bar with bar bloke drying glasses.

Preacher walks in to a crowded bar.

“Hey Preacher”

“Hey”

“Hey “

“Hey”

X 30

“Hey it’s the doc”

“Hey”

“Hey”

X 31

Mellow music heralds the end of the episode

That’s Basically it.

Just finished the last of four episodes of The Yoghurt Shop Murders. Four teenage girls were executed back in 1991 and this SKY documentary covers this awful incident. As a father of three daughters, it was a tough watch.

First 2 episodes of The Last Frontier has dropped.

For fans of 9 1 1my Mrs watched Nashville while I was at the match, said its awful v Lone Star, which was pulled.

Finished the last episode of Peacemaker Season 2 last night.

Proper let down. Unless you’re a fan of 80’s rock icons Nelson or Foxy Shazam.
James Gunn, give your head a shake.

The new Spitting Image os only available on youtube - about three episodes in our of twelve.

As they are no longer on normal TV they can go a lot further and poor Harry!

They have already got one law suit as they have done Paddington (who according to the book Spare - Harry used to speak to as a kid) as a Peruvian drug dealer who loves coke and in this weeks episode had 40k iPhones to get rid of!!!

Farage is hilarious, Starmer is a joke and well you can guess the rest - genuinely funny.

The way they did the Saudi Arabia comedy festival this week is fall off your chair stuff!

Love it 🧡

Al Murray is behind it and apparently and writes the scripts!

Brilliant stuff, some of the short clips of Rayner,Taylor Swift and Markle are so funny

is it because it the only things besides period dramas the British can do..cop shows with average actors. ? though the Guest wasn't bad :-)
I just can't do British cop shows because I was in the old Bill, so I just don't want to relive it on the TV and if they are so horribly inaccurate it makes me want to throw the TV out of the window, Line of Duty for example, I absolutely hated it, biggest load of codswallop I've ever watched.

Is it because they overdo the amount of tea drinking in each episode ?

If you liked Blue Bloods then the Danny spin off Boston Blue has begun.
Following the same format, episode 1 was a solid start.

The return of S4 of Fire Country also saw the pilot episode of the spin off - Sheriff Country.
Worth watching just for Morena Baccarin alone🧡

Just started Riot Women on iPlayer. Decent comedy about women setting up a band for a talent show. Funny.
How come that wayward singer hasn’t been charged!
Smashed up Supermarket and helped herself to Vodka and other goodies.
Resisted arrest and attacked, assaulted 2 Police women with a 10 inch knife.

Can recommend
TASK Mark Rufffalo as FBI agent in Philly on Sky
The Girlfriend on Prime
and these have been mentioned already
The Guest on BBC
Black Rabbit on Netflix i think

I'm not a big fan of romcoms, but Nobody Wants This, about the on/off love affair of an agnostic sex podcaster and a 'hot' rabbi, is excellent.
High joke rate, sharp script, engaging leads and great ensemble cast.
Series 2 starts on Netflix on Thursday.

Yes, I enjoyed series 1 👍

Watched the first 2 episodes of Down Cemetery Road on Apple TV. From the writer of Slow Horses.
Am enjoying it, it’s not edgy, but not twee either.
A bit of a quirky whodunnit set in Oxford. A thriller staring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson amongst others. Yes, good so far.

Alma’s Not Normal - funny
Such Brave Girls - funny

RAKE - one of the best series I’ve ever seen . Feel like I need to give it the hard sell because it’s SO good. About an Australian barrister (brilliant actor called Richard Roxburgh) that is constantly battling his own demons (women, booze, drugs gambling) whilst taking on outrageously weird cases ..
Try it, you won’t be disappointed!
