New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

Ipcress file is a good reworking. If you've seen the original film you might enjoy this. Tom Hollander's Major Dalby very good. Director pays homage to various scenes from original.

1883 terrific western thx for the up on this.

Righteous Gemstones hilarious another thumbs up.

Picard excellent second series with the Borg.

Educating Anna silly but stars Ozark's actress Julia Garner.

What is 1883 on as I really fancy it but it doesn't appear on the main platforms?

I’ve nearly finished Reacher. I’m a big fan of the books and pleasantly surprised with how good the series is.
I read an interesting article a few days back, exploring the reasons why fans would never be 100% happy with any actor playing the role, basically saying there isn’t an actor out there who ticks all the boxes.
For me, I always imagined Tom Berenger’s features on a giant bloke!

I’ve also just finished Yellowjackets, which I thought was very good, but hoping we get the whole story in just one or two more series’.
Nick Nolte in his prime would have made a great Reacher.

The John Wayne Gacy Tapes has dropped today on Netflix, quite an interesting Fella was John..,,

Anyone seen the Muhammad Ali documentary series on BBC? Made by Ken Burns who also did a cracking doc series on the Vietnam war.

I also watched Peaky Blinders if anyone’s seen that?

I find the older I get I prefer documentaries to series. Especially enjoyed the 2 part Thatcher and Reagan documentary, took me back to the good old days. Margaret on her own with about 20 male world leaders bossing them around, marvelllous stuff. Also saw her tender side when the Falklands War ended and she retired to her quarters for a quiet weep.
Also enjoyed the 2 part Mary Whitehouse documentary, fascinating stuff, a feisty lady. Think you can still get them on iplayer or catch up.

Started and finished Normal People on iplayer today.

Jesus Christ, thank god for Not Going Out for a post mood lift 🥺😢 that was hard going for the soul.

My (97 year old) dad loved Normal People which really intrigued me, even though he’s not a ‘normal’ 97 year old! What an unsatisfactory ending though 🙄 Schitts Creek is my mood uplifter.. 😀

Yes, the ending didn’t suit at all. To be honest I feel a lot brighter this morning. It was definitely a ‘down’ or ‘feel bad ‘series despite its popularity.

Maybe a 6 hour binge watch of that kind of content isn‘t particularly wise.

I may try Schitts Creek 👌

I watched the first in the new series of Grace last night. Two hours of excellent entertainment. Very graphic and violent in part, but a good watch.
I fell asleep watching it on catch up but it was late. I was enjoying it and will start it again tonight 👌

Schitts Creek is brilliant, you will love it, it will make you laugh out loud a lot!!

It was a bit dark & to imagine these snuff movies do actually exist, there's some sad bastards out there, in the perpetrators & those who would get off watching this awful stuff.

Glad you’re not feeling quite as low, North End currently losing 2.0 is enough to lift anyone’s spirits too!!
Schitts Creek is very funny 😀

Bruno v Tyson documentary on Sky Showcase. Decent watch. ‘Iron Mike’ was a machine in his prime. Youngest heavy weight champion at 20yrs old. Phenomenal

Pay.........!!!!!
Just use a dodgy website..........Amazon, Apple, Netflix....all for free........Naughty but you get access to some great programs

Better call Saul is truly one of the great series! Enjoying these last episodes but at the same time will be sad to see the end ( the beginning of Breaking Bad)

Finished the excellent Ozark last week and can't wait for the new series in January.
Gonna start the new [third] series of You. The first two series were very good, especially the first.
Ozark was good. You is a good romantic drama if you like that, it's a shame about him killing love though at the end of season 2.

Just watched the first episode of the final 7 episodes of Ozark. Bloody good, Julia Garner is a fantastic actress. Going to try and not binge it so one a day rather than 2 sittings!!

Update on Severance now we've finished the first season. Absolutely superb and the finale is one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen, unbelievably tense shouting at the TV stuff.

Massively recommended.

Can you get Apple TV without an apple tv ? Say on an amazon fire stick ?

I would strongly recommend the recent Storyville documentary called Navalny on iPlayer. Bloody amazing. Better than fiction.

I watch all the Storyville documentaries so have recorded this but not seen it yet. Did you see Hurt Locker Hero about Fakhir Berwari who single handedly defused thousands of bombs in Iraq with just a pair of wire clippers? It was incredible!

No! But I will now. Cheers. I've watched 3 this week though, Navalny, Misha and the Wolves and last night Kim Jong Il's Comedy Club, which is incredible. Watched The Truffle hunters a couple of weeks ago, enjoyed that too. Oh and Red Penguins is good too, about Americans taking over a Russian ice hockey team. Crazy.

Final Account is a must see holocaust documentary, interviewing thousands of Germans who lived through it including SS officers etc.

All on iPlayer under the Storyville banner. Think I'll go for Afghan Cricket club next, been meaning to watch it.

*Hurt Locker Hero not currently available unfortunately.
