New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

No! But I will now. Cheers. I've watched 3 this week though, Navalny, Misha and the Wolves and last night Kim Jong Il's Comedy Club, which is incredible. Watched The Truffle hunters a couple of weeks ago, enjoyed that too. Oh and Red Penguins is good too, about Americans taking over a Russian ice hockey team. Crazy.

Final Account is a must see holocaust documentary, interviewing thousands of Germans who lived through it including SS officers etc.

All on iPlayer under the Storyville banner. Think I'll go for Afghan Cricket club next, been meaning to watch it.

*Hurt Locker Hero not currently available unfortunately.
Oh that’s annoying..he was incredibly brave..

I’ve seen Misha and the wolves and the truffle hunters but not the others so will look out for them although I might have recorded them already.
I’ll try Final account too thanks. I watched The Accountant of Auschwitz recently .. it’s harrowing viewing but I don’t want to stick my head in the sand..

Update on Severance now we've finished the first season. Absolutely superb and the finale is one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen, unbelievably tense shouting at the TV stuff.

Massively recommended.
Best tv I've seen in ages, it really is like nothing else but it is just breathtakingly good, thank god there's a second season!

Slow Horse was superb too and the first episode of the last run of Ozark was a tough watch, we couldn't watch a second it was just too traumatic! Great TV though.

I mean Jesus, that finale, just show him the bloody photo!

Could you then give me the nod if it’s worth it 😀
Ok so Severance done 👌

It’s not my normal genre, but my normal genre has me regularly booing 😢 these days so it was an intentional shift for me.

The plot is fascinating enough to get your attention from the off. A little slow on the middle episodes maybe, but then the final two episodes ramp up the tempo of intrigue and resolve some of the plot issues.
The ending is not ending, more of a ‘ here’s a teeny slice of closure until the next series’ but still a few biggies left unanswered.

Yes, I enjoyed it, and it didn‘t leave me emotionally drained and incapable for 3 days afterwards like Normal People did, and that’s a definite plus 👌

Acting is faultless, cast and plot good.
So yeah, my first sci fi thriller in the bag 😆

Oh, thanks for this review! It definitely sounds worth watching… I’ll download and sign up..
I’ve become far more selective recently because there’s so much to watch on all the different platforms and I know just what you mean about the emotional investment..it can be very draining! There’s enough angst as it is, in everyday life 🙄

I signed up with a 3 month free trial if you can bag one of those. Will see how much I use it in the next 3 months and then decide it’s worth 👍

Star Trek - Strange New Worlds, has had a positive start today.

That said, it's not officially available in the UK. 🙄

It's already out. Done four of the seven episodes so far.
Finished it at the weekend, traumatic season. It's been a great series.

Just started watching Tehran on Apple plus. Pretty tense and claustrophobic so far, certainly doesn't make you want to go to Iran!!

Just started Devs, missed it when it came out, two episodes in and brilliant so far, written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) so can't go wrong really...

Doh!!! Watched it, forgot the title, yes it was great.

Finding the last series of Ozark a little slow if I’m honest.

For Michael Connolly fans Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix is a good watch as is Bosch Legacy on Freevee (Amazon). It would be good to see a crossover like the books do at some point.

Gaslit - Based on the 1970s political Watergate scandal and the different viewpoints of the characters of the time, Sean Penn unrecognisable as John Mitchell, Julia Roberts plays his wife Martha. If you recall the film all the presidents men you may like this as it fleshes out the involvement of the key figures. Series is a bit OTT at times but the look of the early 1970's is spot on.

Ozark is probably my favourite series of the last couple of years, really good and yet so few people seem to have watched it. Didn't realise a new season is out in Jan, but should be good considering how the last one ended 😱
Ozark was great - surely they've finished it after that series love in documentary about it - after the last episode?
Anatomy of a Scandal is a great new UK based drama set in Westminster if you're looking for something.
Also Slow Horses - on Apple TV or IPTV sticks if youve got one ... it's great - Gary Oldman, Kirsten Scott-Thomas. Based on the spy books by Mark Heron - really good modern MI5 loser winner drama thing.

The Offer.....Brilliant...Drama about how Al Ruddy got the Godfather made......Miles Teller & Juno Temple.....if you like The Godfather....10/10

We Own This City.....How Baltimore's Police force were worse than the people they framed for drug dealing.....Fit's in with The Wire and explains how bent and corrupt the Police really are....bit hard to follow but it's HBO...so will be on Sky in a bit

Under The Banner Of Heaven.......Slow start, but WTF......Once it gets going, it's nutty Mormon's just killing everyone....Andrew Garfield is excellent..

Mayans.....It's just about to kick off with The SOA.......

Better Call Saul......Part 1 season end......OH FUCK.......Howard!!!!!!!

Another for Love, Death & Robots....very good

Everything, Everywhere all at once is also up.......one for the kids (over the age of 30) I really enjoyed it...silly but highly entertaining...
