News of the World - Netflix

Indeed. A very good watch with great acting and a decent story. No goryness or swearfests. Almost a film for the whole family

Thanks for the recommendations, I hadn’t spotted this and looks right up my street.

We'll give it a go on Saturday night, I don't think I've ever seen a bad film with Tom Hanks in it, he seems to be very discerning in what he appears in.

It was really good. Watched an Icelandic thriller last night from BBC catchup - I normally hate sub titles - but this was really good, more of an evening film. Thought Tom Hanks was excellent - he has the gravitas now as one of those classic actors from the 60s and 70s - James Stewart - serious

Good film and well worth a watch. Reminds me of the Homesman, another cracking film starring Tommy Lee Jones, also the excellent remake of True Grit.

Mrs G and I enjoyed it too. This is not a traditional cowboys and Indians story, but is closer to the historical record. Life in the south was grim in the aftermath of the Civil War.

An excellent film, Tom Hanks at his laid back best. Found the Dig a bit slow but watchable even so.
