Nicola Sturgeon not a Blackpool fan.....

.....just announced over 180 cases of Covid in Scotland could possibly be traced back to visits to Blackpool and has asked Scots not to travel here 😳

Did they contract it in Blackpool or did the Scots bring it to Blackpool? Many a time I've been up there it has seemed like mini-Scotland.

It’s all part of her grand plan for Ind. Referendum 2 as 58% of Jocks are now in favour (according to a Jock mate of mine).

TB, I had my P/T job in the amusements outside the Bingo hall that used to be Central Station.
On the Friday night of Scottish week-end in the Illuminations, we used to pray that we were closed before the hoards arrived. 🙄

Back in the mid 60’s, I had a girlfriend who lived in Layton. During the Glasgow Fair , her Dad demanded that we did not go into central Blackpool

Could it have been the travelling or the mixing?
Lets be honest travelling all that way on coaches aint the best idea at the moment.
Neither is pissed up 'jimmy' hordes doing shite karaoke in some of our more Scottish friendly 'entertainment' venues.
I dont blame the good Scotch folk or anyone else for wanting to have a 'good time' but at the moment there will be consequences.

Dave, my sister (older than me) married a guy from Dundee just after the war. His brother played for Dundee United.
They stayed in Blackpool and he (B/in/Law) was a big Pool fan and on one of the first supporters committees.

You've reminded me how wild things could get here during the old Glasgow fortnight. I think a lot of the locals used to give it a wide berth and let them get on with it.
The biggest mistake Blackpool ever made was booking The Rolling Stones for the last Glasgow Fair weekend at the Empress ballroom. What a night that was!!
You and a few others on here will remember it well.
The Stones certainly did..they've never been near the place since.

Plod should turn the coaches round before Yeadon Way and send the Sweaties back.
Enough Covid19 in the Town without all these idiots turning up.

I was there, unbeknown to my mum and dad, who thought I was at the Youth Club, and would have clattered me if they had found out. I could feel the tension as soon as I went in and wasn't at all happy, so I stood near an exit just in case, once it started I just left and got away from the place s quickly as possible. Pandemonium isn't really an adequate word. Barmy absolutely barmy.

Seriously. Surely Sturgeon should have said that travelling anywhere for 4 hours on a coach is a seriously bad idea at the moment. And not singled out any particular resort.
Blackpool probably singled out because of the publicity in Scotland about Rangers and Celtic fans decamping down here for the Derby game.

I had a bird's eye view from the balcony!

Blackpool Director of Public Health just been on BBC Scotland news giving a common sense view. No large hotel outbreaks, Blackpool's rates lower than many other places (incl. Glasgow). Nice to see some balance.

What’s the main differences between tier 2 and 3 ?

Tier 2
Mixing of households indoors not allowed
Rule of six applies to private gardens and outdoor spaces - social distancing rules also apply
Pubs and restaurants remain open, but no mixing of households inside and 10pm curfew

Tier 3

No mixing of households indoors and outdoors, including in private gardens
Pubs and bars to close
Restaurants, and pubs that can operate as restaurants, allowed to stay open
No wedding receptions
Local politicians will decide if gyms, betting shops, casinos, hairdressers and beauty salons should close
Non-essential shops, schools and universities to remain open
Avoid non-essential travel
Travel outside area advised against
Avoid staying overnight in another part of the UK if resident in a Tier 3 area
People resident elsewhere should avoid staying overnight in a Tier 3 area

Thank you ! I thought I read the rule of 6 still applied to outdoors in tier 3, evidently not 👍

In Tier 3 Pubs and bars must close, and can only remain open where they operate as if they were a restaurant – which means serving substantial meals, like a main lunchtime or evening meal. ‘They may only serve alcohol as part of such a meal.’

So those pubs that don’t serve food must close and those that serve main meals can remain open, let’s see how this will be interpreted!🤔

Not good news for the Armfield club then 😢
