Right here's the situation. Sat with wife and friends in warm sunshine in the Hirschgarten Augustiner BeerGarden -the largest in the world... Oh go on then another Mass of Helle.
And the conversation turned to the nightclub at the Norbreck, c.1979/80. One of our number (older than the rest of us), said that in order to keep it's alcohol licence it had to provide chicken in a basket without charging for it. He said it was rank awful. I said that I remember that place taking over from the Mecca for the sixth form dances.

Anyway none of us can remember the name of the place. We've tried Trader Jack's but agreed that that was at The Imperial. So, over To you AVFTTers.

Wonderful Biergarten and serving Augustiner Edelstoff, my fave 🥨🍻🍻 enjoy 1966👍

I seem to recall stories about Billy Ronson (No 4 who could take corners) being in the Norbreck Nitespot drinking pink gin, standing up complaining that nobody recognised him. That would be 77/78.

Personally I've only ever know 6th form dances at the Mecca. XTC was the last one I went to.

It was just called the Norbreck nightspot.

Last record of the night (or morning as was the case) the DJ always played Stevie Wonder isn’t she lovely so all the loves could smooch on the dance floor.

A long day, Bayern. The biergarten was excellent, then back to the hotel for two hours before heading out to eat at a Lowenbrau restaurant, followed by an Ayingerbrau halle opposite the Hoffbrauhaus. Had a quick look in at the Hoffbrauhaus but it was rammed and hot and sweaty. Maybe earlier in the day tomorrow.

The Hofbrauhaus does get very busy especially with tourists so yes worth a try around 12ish, weather looks good over there at the moment so well worth a tour of the beer gardens in the Englischergarten!👍👍

The Hofbräuhaus is usually OK to get a seat without reservation whenever the weather is really hot. Its not that pleasant inside In hot weather and most people will head to a biergarten instead. The only outside space at the Hfb is the courtyard which is pleasant but not easy to find a spot.

Copper Face Jacks had some good local groups on from time to time.

Mariners was a dive, and is still an eyesore (a pile of rubble)

Ozzy Osborne first solo gig.Saw Slade Girlschool Budgie. Def Leppard played there. Samson with Bruce Dickinson. Stray cats got a beating there by PR and Bispham crew. Good times.

Norbreck used to bring some ace punk bands to the town. In the days when most punks wouldn’t get a look in in town. Occasionally Jenks by exception.
