Norwich are a waste of time club

Can't disagree with that but its about all provincial clubs can hope for given the money being splashed around to make headway in the PL. Sunderland now facing a third term in L1 and Huddersfield hanging on by a thread in the Championship.

West Brom another possible yo yo club but at least it gives fans something to get excited about.

I bet they make a fortune in promotion/parachute payments. In a lot of ways a good business model

Underinvest in the prem, over invest in the championship, collect the dough every year. I’m surprised the Oystons never caught on
Risky strategy as it only takes one bad season in the Championship to be relegated to LG 1.

They only spent 1.1 million on players so never really gave themselves a chance where as Villa, like Fulham last season have spent over 100 mill and still look like being relegated.

Norwich are a great family club. Loyal fan base too. They had a bad season and ended up in League 1 but fought back. I can’t ever really see them back in League 1 and nor can I really see them challenging in the Premiership - they will forever be a yo-yo team unless someone invests very very heavily. Fortunately they have a great academy, a massive catchment area and a sensible owner (when not pissed !!)
Just a shame it’s so far away as it’s a brilliant day out.

During the end of our stint in the Prem a friend asked me "well, what do you want?" He was ofc referring to BFC and what I expected or hoped for in the best case scenario. My response as it was stands to this day. I'd be 100% happy with us being a yoyo club. At the time I likened that scenario to WBA. Norwich would be a fitting comparison these days to Norwich.

I'm curious to know, why people think they are boring? Not the first time I've heard it and my step dad is a born and bred Norwich fan... so I've heard the complaint a few times. But I just don't get it.

No other club within 50 miles helps.
Yup but Great Yarmouth might find a benefactor who bankrolls a new stadium, changing ground and give its fishing community a league club.
In an instant Norwich could have fierce, local rivals who maybe have a grinning baboon as manager 😄

Oh to have Norwich's problems. I'd be happy for us to be a Championship club, never mind a yo yo club into the Premier League.

I'd much rather be a yo-yo club like Norwich to be honest. Seem like a well run, family orientated club who are well patronised. Like the yellow and green too!

I love Norwich . . . as a place and a club. I remember going to a mid week game in the Cup I think about 10 years ago and being on the concourse before the game thinking the pies were amazing !! The penny dropped when I saw Delia mingling with our fans . . great club. Also remember a more recent visit when we got battered but still had a great time. Like Brighton . . one of those cities in the UK that just gives me a good feeling.

They needed to strengthen in January. If they had just got an Andy Reid or a James Beattie they would of been fine.

Silly OP. Norwich City are doing just fine. As others have said like WBA it's a great model. Have a good youth system too and pick up top Championship players. They and WBA are experts at it. Norwich will already be well prepared for the Championship next season.

Teams that don't plan for relegation fail. I do wonder about Bournemouth and Burnley if they ever went down? Would they do an us, Barnsley or Huddersfield?

Think Bournemouth could be described as more 'boring'. Last couple of seasons haven't really offered anything resembling entertainment. Just been treading water & hopefully will fall through the trap door. At least as a yo yo club every other season you win plenty of games.

It’s a good strategy- look at Burnley, yo yo and rebuild the club before establishing themselves. If they went down they’d be fine, financially.

Lovely city and a well run club.

Norwich city are clearly a championship side they invested very little in the squad at the start of the season and relegation was always a very strong possibility. Are they a waste of time club, most certainly not. I would not mind our club being in their position and realistically being able to experience the prem every few years. As has been said they have benefited from having invested in a good youth system. They are a good and very well run club. If I have a criticism it would be that if they were serious about staying in the premier league they needed to have invested more in the squad and so lacked that ambition.

Must be pretty good being a Norwich fan, all the highs and lows👍...as opposed to say Everton/spurs etc, who always maintain prem status whilst never win anything...

The hubris of the OP is pretty disappointing. Provincial club, loyal (and pretty sizeable) fan base, home grown owner - what's not to like?

I like Norwich, good fan base and they played some fantastic stuff in the Championship leading to their promotion. They have a limited budget and weren't prepared to bankrupt themselves by splurging big, they are probably destined to be a yoyo club whilst they stick to this model. Having lived about 30 minutes outside Norwich until 18 months ago I took in a couple of games there, lovely stadium and a great match day atmosphere. We could do a lot worse than being like Norwich.
