Now the window is shut

Bruce has culled his squad and brought some good attacking players into the squad so hopefully now he can mould them into a tight unit,we’re getting there now tbh,
Only concern is the lack of backup in midfield, we still seem light but I guess Bruce is happy with what he’s got so let’s see what happens…

I'm really struggling with the decision to let Norburn/Norbury go with no replacement, given the injury records of our midfielders. I suppose we kept hold of Finnigan in the end, but Bruce doesn't seem to fancy him.
He is playing 2men in Central midfield, and others are ahead of him but could be OK off bench

He seems to rate Carey so hopefully we see him step up now, hopefully Bruce has had a chat with him as he did with Fletcher and has got him focused on producing for the team and pushing us forward

The midfield is fine ,we needed to look at our keeper.

Aren't wingers classed as midfielders ,because we have just signed 2 ,also we have given an extension till the end of the season to a 3 rd. How many do we need.

We have 8 players classed as midfielders on our website, but this does not count Coulson and Gabriel who tend to play as wing backs and Bloxham who is supposed to be a winger ,that's 11 players that can support the forwards and also defend . How many players do we need for 4 positions.

Decent window.

Bloxham on a perm is fantastic business, and Ennis/Silvera provide us depth in important positions.

Most important part of the window is unloading wages of players we don't need (Norburn, Rhodes, Thompson, Embo, Ashworth).

Losing KJ is a blow, but the money will be reinvested this Summer in a massive overhaul with tons of wages to work with.

Sets us up well for the summer. B+ window.

So would you pull Carey out now for Evans?, I’m not Carey’s biggest fan but on current form he has to stay in
It's a tough one, but I would say yes. I think Evans is back in for the next one. I said on another thread we looked a bit lightweight in the middle vs Lincoln and Charlton and Evans coming back will leave us less exposed. I know it's a bit tough on Sonny, but I think he has staked a claim over the last three games to be a valuable squad member. He has shown he offers something different, as he can carry the ball a long way from deep which can be a useful weapon when we turn the ball over....

Loan fc. There’s a good chance we have all 5 loan players starting these games coming up. It’s not the end of the world but how can you expect to be successful when your having to replace players every season

January is always awkward. You want players to improve your current squad but those players tend to not be available or stupidly expensive. You pretty much end up with we actually got. A couple of out of favour loans from higher league clubs and a permanant signing. Summer is your overhaul and january is your tweak windows. I think its been a good window.

Evans, Morgan and Carey will all get a lot of game time from now till the end of the season.

Evans has had 3 games to rest up so should come back in on Saturday.

You say it will be reinvested, but how do you know that. I for one am not too sure.

Sonny has done very well last two games imo. Ideally he can turn that into the norm and we can finish the season using the three players for two positions. We can then rest players as required, use a bit of tactics, do we need a runner or a passer etc as Bruce sees fit. Hopefully Onomah can get in that mix too and we have horsepower to draw on when required too.

I’d rest Morgan. I just hope Carey keeps bringing the ball forward like he has been over the last couple of games.
Yeah if I had to choose it would be Morgan, Carey is possibly in his best spell of form for us and to drop him now would smash his confidence.

Every team is full of loan players . Not so many in the Prem granted but all teams from the. Championship down. I wish it wasn't so but it's the modern way.
Most times now if a player really stands out in the first or second div. Then he'll be a loan. Great shame really

I'm talking about central midfielders, not wingers. We have Carey, Morgan and Onomah, who are all more comfortable in attacking roles, plus Evans who has a lengthy injury history and Finnigan who Bruce himself has implied isn't ready.

We're a combative midfielder short imo. Top teams will overpower us with Morgan and Carey in there.

We can't let perfect be the enemy of good here.

Yes, it's ideally to play our own players to develop them and get the benefits of said development, but every good team has several loanees on it, it would be impossible to get promoted without them.

20/21 we had Embo, Gabriel, Simms, and Ballard all on loan.

They haven't yet

Rumour that Norburn was approaching a point, with number of games played, that the automatic option on the final year of contract would be triggered. Wigan effectively paying his wages until he is likely released at season end, saving the club a years wages.

Could Offiah be that combative midfielder

You would think this is the season we need to go up because next season Baggot and Offiah will be irreplaceable

If that’s true then well done to the club for shifting him on👍
