Nurses planning a strike

I think when this has passed and the inevitable enquiry starts- the nepotism and extreme profligacy of the T&T will be examined - fully expect those with Daily Mail/Express/Sun bent to come on here writing " let's be positive, we need to look to the future, everyone makes mistakes etc"

Most nurses I know are against striking on an ethical basis but there is anger that the government are aware of this and frankly taking the piss- there maybe some industrial action such as working too rule ,overtime ban which would cause mayhem. Most departments at the Vic are chronically understaffed which is not new and if you go to the Vic main entrance at 8pm mist nights you will see crowds of agency nurses on at least 25% a hour more than regular staff and still safe staffing levels are breached every day

Not sure if there are any quick solutions but 1% offer is an insult and hoping it is an opening gambit. Some unions are asking for 12.5 % and again that is an opening gambit. Suspect the pay review body will recommend about 3% which the government may accept

Like others thought the clap for the NHS was BS after the first time

1. Remaining in an organisation doesnt mean they're my beloved. I was in the YHA, doesn't mean I'm besotted about stopping in dormitories.
2. Some rumour that came to nothing because there was no basis in fact.

Not like you to be so lacking in detail. If you're having a pop you've got to do a lot better than that.
You continually bemoan the fact we've left do you not? And rumour or not the fact is we are well ahead of the EU with our rollout. But even then you wanted to have a dig because the 37 million would not have sped up the roll out and you know it.

Not even the female ones?

Did they have a vacancy for a backscrubber? (flower in back pocket smiley)

I don't think an overtime ban will work on the same ethical grounds that a strike wouldn't, the NHS is run on extra shifts and hours, it will just be unpaid.

Not million. BILLION.

1%, 12.5% is simply a distraction.

Re-evaluating the value of a person’s worth to society in terms of the job that they do just isn’t going happen in a capitalist society, regardless of who is in charge

So you think the track and trace is a great success and we should be singing its praises? Difficult to be positive about the loss of £37 billion to a private company that has never looked like delivering while paying a big dividend to its shareholders this year.
Obviously it’s failed, it can happen, nobody is perfect, things can go wrong in every walk of life. 🙂 I think 20s makes the valid point about constant negativity, some people look for it then gloat☹️but on the flip side would you agree the vaccination roll out has been a huge success and should be celebrated 👍🏻👍🏻
you see the left will never mention that will they??? It’s Just as well the British public on the whole can the positives👍🏻thus the 13 point lead for the government in the opinion polls🤪

A one off substantial bonus would have been the way to go.

The NAO is due to report "in the spring"; I suspect that it will find none of the above and certain posters will keep making the same claims anyway.

£37 billion is one hell of " go wrong "

The vaccine roll out has been a success and I would add support for individuals and businesses has been a success in terms of insulating people from the full force of the pandemic

Your post is one I would expect after the very real mistakes, not to mention cronyism , are revealed in the future same time - you got in there early Poilton tranny - doff that cap ,the future is bright

I've been consistent in my praise of the vaccination programme. One positive shouldn't be used to mask many other failures that have literally cost thousands of lives.

NHS staff going on strike will cost thousands of lives☹️ But the left don’t see that.

Let's just hope the NAO have better success at finding all the contracts. Despite Boris telling everyone they had all been published, there are still 100 not published, according to the Government's own figures.

Notwithstanding the abysmal public finance position, I would have given them a lump sum as well, in recognition of the effort put in over the last 12 months

Quick, get the commies in charge.

Well here’s another scenario.

There’s no legal obligation on anyone to save anyone else’s life.

So, as an example, you could come across the former owner of a football club floundering in a local pond. He might be waving his arms around. And calling for help. There might be a life ring right next to you. But there’s no legal obligation on you to throw it to him. You could in fact just stand there and watch events unfold (the question of who pushed him into the pond in the first place is entirely different obviously).

Now jump forward a few years. There you are in a bed at Blackpool Vic. You desperately need to be taken to the loo or at least handed a bedpan. In the next beds are various other free marketeers and prominent posters on here (I’ll leave it to the imagination but some are blessed with single incontinence; others afflicted at both ends). In walks Nurse Lytham. In any other circumstances an enticing prospect. But on this occasion less so. Especially when he/she says “Right I have 15 minutes before I head out. I need a “generous donation” to fund my evening plus next month’s rent. Who’s in a generous mood?”

Bearing in mind your situation do you:

1. Start sobbing?
2. Call on their ethics and higher natures?
3. Offer more than Scara or Tonto (who frankly might have a greater need)?
4. Shake your head; wonder how it’s all come to this, opt out and evacuate your bladder/bowels?
5. Wish that it hadn’t come to this and that you’d treated workers in the NHS with dignity and respect, and rewarded them accordingly, in the first place?

Watching you performing on porn hub.

With a magnifying glass.

Apparently the ingrates want a payrise above 1% AND applause.

Anyone think this is defensible?

They're done an amazing job and we will forever be grateful however they trained to help people and that's what they have done.

This country will see the biggest recession in our history later this year with many people losing jobs, houses and potentially everything they've worked for so the NHS need to be thankful they will have an income.

Except in the budget we were assured unemployment will peak at 6.5%.

That would certainly recognise the NHS beyond the nice but financially unrewarding Thursday night clap during lock down 1. Additionally, a one off payment would cost less than a pay rise due to ongoing secondary NI and pension costs. Certainly worth thinking about, the 1% proposal seemed a bit of a piss take IMHO. Just an opinion of course.

No idea on costs, but I'm assuming it's not much more than the help out to ear out scheme?
