o/t Brew anyone?

Probably about 6 a day with the odd Earl Grey thrown in occasionally.
The thought of milk first is obscene.

5 a day roughly, wouldn’t do it myself but I don’t understand why it’s sacrilegious to put the milk in first and I actually cringe a bit when I hear British people say it abroad 🙈

Like Davepick says ,the only way to drink tea is brew it in a teapot, milk and sugar first, and only stir it clockwise.

Impacts on the flavour. Scalds the milk as the liquid is hotter when put in after the milk. The surface has cooled slightly by the time you put the milk in. Second, you can adjust the volume of milk depending on the strength of the tea.

If I’m making for more than one person it’s in a pot, milk first, and sugar (if they take it) after the water.

If it’s just for me (like now) it’s teabag in mug, water then milk. Otherwise the teabag is a gloopy mess when you take it out.

I think the debate stems from the days when only rich people could afford china. They could poor in the hot liquid first without the cup cracking. The cups used by the less well off might break hence the milk went in first to cool down the hot tea.

Prob about 10 cups a day of either tea or coffee, always with milk and never have sugar...as soon as you add sugar to either for me it just tastes of sugar...😀

Brews are very personal ,so how can you possibly put milk in first (I worked in Wigan /st Helens ) and only once did I let someone in our office make a brew, milk hot water tea bag left to soak in mush ,totally disgusting(proper tea, boiling water one sugar milk last so you know how you like it personally a spot of milk and strong brew)👍.

6 ish per day. Tea bag in mug, never cup or teapot. Pot wouldn't work in our house cos missus likes it less strong than I do. Milk after t bag removed, tiny bit of sugar.

In fact, just having one now

2 milky coffees and around 4 cups of tea. My day starts around 5.30am until around 11pm so not too bad
Your dedication to duty is extraordinary and admirable. You deserve as many refreshing brews as you want.

I only have one coffee per day and like it made with all milk plus one sugar and less frequent cups of the excellent Earl Grey tea using tea bags also with milk and sugar in first but I also do drink a couple of glasses of orange juice each day.

Teabag in cup, got to be boiling water, brew for a minimum 2 mins then milk. No sugar but a nice biscuit for dunking in the afternoon.

5.17am now and I’ve had two coffees, strong, a little milk and a sugar. Will have at least three more, probably four. Wife drinks earl grey, around eight cups a day.

Both of us turn to alcohol around 5pm, me beer, her Pinot Grigio.

3 maximum. Cut out caffeine for about 3 years previously but became a bit jaded in lockdown and needed a lift.
Milk first never. Though each to their own.

Decaff coffee at 06:15. Milk in first.
Tea at 11:00. Milk in last.
Decaff tea 18:00. Milk in last.

Decaff due to chronic indigestion.

We drink Typhoo Tea and buy boxes of 240 bags.
Recently I discovered (I make the Tea 🙄 ) lots of tea leaves in the pot and cups.
Inspection (by me) revealed a little tear in quite a lot of the bags. Just near the edge, but enough to let the tea out.
I phoned Typhoo and told this nice lady about it. She was concerned and said she would send a 'return' envelope,
and asked me to put a few in.
Received the envelope today, so I put some tea bags in.
Let's just see what happens.😉

Milk first is an abomination. When I'm at work, I can have up to 6 teas in a day, 1.5 sugars, I kn ow when I've had over 4 as I struggle to sleep at night due to being wired.

I read this in the voice of a 1930s BBC war correspondent

I have 3-4 brews in the morning only. Black tea is a migraine trigger for me so I have flavoured rooibos, green and herbal teas. Current favourites: Sainsbury’s Cocoa & Coconut Rooibos, Morrisons Sweet Apple & Maple Syrup and Twinings Rooibos & Honey with a hint of Spiced Fig.

O/T I switch to sugar free pop with and after lunch. I also have the occasional banana milkshake and hot chocolate. And beer obvs 😉.

Tea needs boiling water to brew well so anyone making it with a tea-bag in a mug would be odd if they were to put milk in with the bag before adding the water.

I used to have about 6 at work in a day. Took me a while to realise how hyper it was making me 😳
I try to limit it to 4 but should probably have decaf on the go too. But yep, I can be seriously wired which works when I’m at work and having a busy day, not so good when I’m doing drum rhythms with me teeth in bed as I can’t sleep 😁

Fruit tea with breakfast. Caffeinated coffee till mid afternoon. Decaf in the evening. Though on match days from now till end of season I will stick to decaf. Milk in first only when tea from a teapot. A mug with a teabag milk in after.
