O/T Frasier

Beat show everyone made
Coincidentally enough im half way through bindge watching it for about the 10th time
Hopefully if it comes back David Hyde Pierce (Niles) will be still in it he was the best supporting actor Iā€™ve ever seen, sad John Mahoney (Martin) wonā€™t who passed away in 2018 he was either from or grew up in Blackpool

Strangely i never watched it when it was on and then got into it a year after it finished. So many funny moments . Also the reason why i picked the Seattle Seahawks as my NFL team. Agree that Niles was a great character.

Many of the better episodes were when Niles was pursuing Daphne, it lost something when they finally got together

Great news, for those that haven't seen it, tune into CH4 tomorrow, Friday and Saturday as it'll be on instead of the cricket!! šŸ˜

Arguably my favourite American comedy. So well written and performed in the first several series, as said above once Niles and Daphne worked it out little cracks started to appear that didn't happen before.

It certainly didn't become a weak show overnight, but from a position of virtual perfection it just steadily turned into good, and by the end it was right to call it a day.

All the main cast contributed something towards a sum total, and with even just one of those missing the balance is wrecked. I just hope a good memory isn't spoiled, but I'll have concerns.

TV companies! No new ideas so see what they can rehash. Will & Grace, which was just solid second division compared to Frasier, even with the full cast back.

Yes! superb series and carried all the warmth of the characters from Cheers into a new setting, oddly my favourite characters were always his ex-wife Lilith Sternin and Frasierā€™s agent Bebe Glazer but could never warm to his radio show Producer Roz Doyle.

They always said the real star was Martinā€™s old chair and the best lines in the show were from Martin about Eddie the dog

Martin : We call him Eddie Spaghetti.
Daphne : Oh, he likes pasta?
Martin : No, he has worms.

If its even half a good as the original it will still be brilliant!

I believe its set for a subscription channel Paramount + but hopefully Channel 4 will pick it up again as thatā€™s its ā€œhomeā€ for me.

I hated Bebe in it and i quite fancied Roz

Bebe was brilliant. Favourite episode was when she has Frasier doing that advert.
Great show. Hope this doesnā€™t tarnish the legacy.

Lilith the witch...yes, she was good. I liked Frazier but Cheers was my favourite, along with Hill Street Blues.

Cheers started with the arrival of Channel 4 - Newly married and a new baby my old Friday night outs had stopped - Ch4 and its Friday Schedule saved my sanity and with Auf Weidersehen Pet first showing it was actually worth staying in (well thatā€™s what I told myself!) - actually they were happy days šŸ‘

Wow what a revelation this is, Iā€™m a Frasier obsessive and I didnā€™t think AVFTT was the place I would find others like myself šŸ˜‚

Iā€™m fairly sure this reboot will be absolute crap, though. What made Frasier was the writing. Cheers jokes with a high class reworking. Grammar directing himself will mean he will lack the self awareness to play it as a pompous ego driven fame whore, in fear of actually being that in real life.

The silent scene with Niles ironing his pants was one of the funniest solo comedy scenes Iā€™ve seen.
Classic

Not heard any comment from other cast members yet on the reboot which is a bit concerning. For it to work properly they have to be involved. Whatever happens we've always got 200 plus episodes to remember it by.

Indeed. Friday was pub night for me but always made sure I was home in time for Cheers.

Frasier is one of the best sitcoms ever made, it was just high farce and was brilliant.

Not sure about a revival though, John Mahoney has gone (along with Eddie presumably) and it did tail off towards the end anyway.

Well it was clever wordplay and situation rather than slapstick so gentle enough to bring in new characters (probably based on old ones) for it still to work nicely. Maybe a new Martin in the shape of a younger brother as the Cranes Uncle - Christ its got to be better than half the stuff on screen, BBC and ITV donā€™t really try to do comedy any more - celebrity versions of gameshows maybe, but no new Likely Lads or Rising Damp! Ch4 being the exception these days ā€œBackā€ is simply brilliant!

I suppose, as long as they dont bring Daphne's Mancunian with a cockney accent brothers back.
