o/t Glastonbury Thread 2022

Not his greatest fan, but he has a back catalogue like no other. Fuck me if when I'm 80 and can cross the road with no help I'll be happy.
Didn't want to like it, but I am !
His and The Beatles influence is in most bands over the decades, Weller, Oasis( too Beatley) and the inspiration to so many groups in the 60’s as us old music loving afficionados know.

To be fair if you're opening your set with a song written in 1964 ( Can't buy me love ) and every fucker in the audience know the words, you're 80 and still headlining with a crowd most people would die for, you've not had a bad career.
Still think The Stones were the band The Beatles wanted to be.

Nah The Beatles were the working class R&R group The Stones would have liked to have been.

Have to say, I'm far from impressed with this McCartney set. Audience seem to know very few of the songs and for a guy who's written so many songs you can sing along to, this is pretty garbage.
Are you Phil 3 in disguise Pete ?
Presume you've been out tonight

Cheer up ffs Peter, I didn't want to like it either. You didn't hear people joining in to Can't buy me Love, It's Getting Better All the Time and somewhat surprisingly Blackbird from The White Album ?
I bet you'd struggle to name half the songs he's already done and for some-one with a back catalogue the size of his, I think it's a poor choice. And yes, here's another one no-one knows.

The guy’s been a pop musical story teller tonight with his little snippets of Hendrix, Clapton, Lennon, and early Cavern days, bit like learning from your parents about family history. (Fuck I’ve gone a bit)😄

great song, but is it one all the audience will know? Is it fuck. Deathly silence in the audience. Muted applause tells you that.
It's off one of the greatest albums of all time, if the audience don't know that they should watch someone else, what exactly would you have him play?
I think it's been awful by the way.

Oh look, Something. And guess what? Audience participation.
Cos all the 20 somethings know their 50 year old songs. You do know there are lots and lots of others stages there and if people were as unhappy as you obviously are Pete, they'd empty the place and go and drop at tab to Bez.
They are enjoying the company of a legend, just like you would with Tony Green, except he still can't beat 4 men before sticking it in the bottom corner.

yes it is, but the audience aren't all over 60. And so many of them won't have it in their record collection so won't know the song. His back catalogue of singles alone could more than fill his slot.

don't dispute he's a legend but I think his choice of set list is poor.
