O/T - Is Coronavirus a lot worse than we are being told?

Or is it just a storm in a teacup?

My initial thoughts were that it was much ado about nothing, but as it progresses I now wonder if it is a cover up and the outbreak in China is far far worse and there are many more people seriously ill and dying from it. The Chinese tried to stop that doctor who discovered it from making any noise in an effort to bury it. I am still leaning to my original thought, but there's something not quite right about the whole thing. 😷🤧🤒
 
Wouldn't surprise me if the figures were inaccurate and the number of cases and deaths is a lot higher than what they are saying
 
That's the problem with China (and several other countries) they don't like freedom of information so we'll never get the full facts on this so that makes people including me suspicious of what's going on, I just hope it gets contained
 
They are still reporting fatalities at just 2%.....but the big one is if the pathogen (the infectious agent or simply the germ) mutates.
We know the infection is spread through contact (the easiest...so therefore the worst)
IF...and it's a massive IF...they cant find a 'block' to stop the infection at cellular level....Then we (The world) are f##ked.....😷🤒

China knows that an outbreak, that's passed between humans via contact and has (say) a 10% (1 in 10) fatality would see millions die in a localised area....and millions needing medical care....turn the pathogen into a 99% fatality rate (similar to Ebola,Plague etc)....and if anyone has seen the movie 'Outbreak'....☠....imagine it like a Zombie outbreak.....that never ends well...
 
I think it's worse than they say. It might even reach Pandemic proportions.
The one good thing about China is that, being a Totalitarian State, they can shut things, borders etc, down quickly.
 
I dont think they would be building hospitals in 8 days unless this is really serious. 61 million people caught swine flu in 2009 and they weren't doing this.
 
None of the deaths to date have been of people who didn't have underlying medical conditions. By comparison to Flu, Coronavirus is lightweight. If we start to see deaths of otherwise healthy people - that is when things will start to be a concern.

Diggers, we only have the word of the Chinese for that. What about the doctor who died?
 
I think it will end up being as bad as the Asian flu outbreak. If I were a pensioner I’d think twice about travelling through an international airport at the minute

@Curryman the doctor case is interesting - need to know more about that. The Cruise ships now quarantined in Japan will also be a good barometer as to the efficacy.
 
Pretty sure it’s a man made virus unleaded as an attempt to cull the overpopulation of the planet. Makes sense to release it in China, country with the biggest population and a world wide hub for business deals

It's an obvious attempt to prevent the transfer to the new AVFTT board. The lengths some people will go to...
