Why did ‘Nev’ sign a quote? Who signs a quote?
Doesn’t take away from Natalie being a Charlatan but wtf?

Even if can’t prove didn’t know what he was signing, two week cooling off period on any contract so sending the photographer away should of null and void it. Vile sub life humans them Os

Update - Name is Natalie Christopher (Oyston) -
PLEASE AVOID A COMPANY CALLED LANCASHIRE NORTH WEST MAGAZINE. (This is not Lancashire Life)

Weeks ago Nev started being called by someone called Natalie from ‘Lancashire North West magazine’ (not Lancashire Life) asking if he wanted to have an advert in the next month’s edition. Nev said he wasn’t sure but would think about it. The same woman then appeared at Nev’s new shop and spoke to him about it again, he told her he didn’t really have the time or money at the minute to go ahead with it but would be in touch in the future. She was very persistent and had him sign what she said was a “quote” - I’m fuming about this because had I been there, bringing half a brain the the equation, I wouldn’t have even let him sign a scabby napkin off her and would’ve told her to move along.

The next week a photographer showed up to take photos at Nev’s shop, he explained he wasn’t going ahead with the advert and had him leave without taking pictures. He then left a message with Lancashire North West magazine to confirm he did not want an advertisement.

A few weeks later we were presented with the latest edition of the magazine, there was an advertisement in it for his business which included a photograph of food off the internet, the name of his business, an incorrect description of what he offers and his own personal, private mobile phone number. We were obviously annoyed by this and tried multiple times to contact them to try and find out how and why this had happened and didn’t manage to speak to anyone.

A month later on 26th October we were emailed an invoice for £594 to a company called ‘Jamaican cakes’... followed by another email saying “sorry ignore that, this is your invoice” with an invoice attached to ‘Reggae soul man’ (yeah seriously!), again for £594. We tried multiple times to contact them again to no avail.

Last week we received a letter from a debt collection agency, dated 27th October, so ONE DAY after the invoice had been sent to us, demanding we pay £653. We contacted the debt collection agency to explain what had happened and amazingly they were able to get in touch with someone from the magazine company and were sent the ‘contract’ Neville had ‘signed’, which they forwarded to us... Since being signed by Neville, it had had costs added to it to make it look like an agreement of payment.

I really didn’t want to name anyone or cause a huge fuss about this because it’s totally not my style and legally I don’t really know where we stand with it now and am speaking with a solicitor, but in the meantime I just want to make people aware of this and urge you to NOT meet with Natalie or anyone from Lancashire North West Magazine. Now is not the time to be scamming new businesses whilst things are tough as they are. Please feel free to share
🙂

Thanks that is absolutely disgusting!!

So what they have done is altered a “contract” AFTER it had been signed and are now taking them to court over non payment of a fraudulent document.

If I'm not mistaken something signed would form a contract, unless it was signed under duress. Ignorance of the content wouldn't be adequate. Not even not being given a copy would help, maybe it would.....

Surely a cooling off period would apply, 7 or 14 days.

It sounds to me like the victims were 'ripe' for the scam and picked off as a result.

I fear the worst here. But be sure ion the Court of St Peter Nat the ** would be found guilty and sentenced to rot in hell.

What about altering the contract after it’s been signed?

14 day cooling off period on any contract. I would hope in a small claims court he would have a good chance of winning,
