Decent day for the Brits yesterday. Struggle a bit to get in to the tournament until the second week and is it me or have all the big names disappeared from Wimbledon (and by big I don’t mean how many letters are in their surname!). Didn’t even know this Brit lad who is seeded Number 9!

It's a shame they didn't let that Russian fella play. I think all of the majors this year have been tainted by not allowing all of the top players to play - Novak for turning down the jab or Medvedev for being born.

Would have preferred to see Cameron Norrie on centre court than Murray

I came across the parade of champions at Wimbledon in 2000 on you tube the other day. I Really enjoyed it and remember it at the time but it made me realise how much I've fallen out of love with tennis to the extent I don't watch it anymore , even Wimbledon. I used to love it. So many legendary names of the game but now I find it so boring.

The trouble is no one’s come through to seriously challenge Djokovic Nadal Federer or Murray over the years. Only the most ardent fans would be aware of the names and rankings of other players. The casual watchers will probably only choose to watch matches involving those 4. Even Robinsons have decided to jump ship.

True, if the big four were all still fit they'd dominate tournaments as they have for the past 15 years even though they're pushing 40.

I always find it odd that the great British public including a big percentage of women, bang on about how much they love Tennis and that Wimbledon is their thing ( normally in response to a you don't like football do you? question) and then proceed to have no interest in Tennis the other 50 weeks of the year.

Especially as Wimbledon isn't really tennis as it is the other 50 weeks of the year.

Murray should win if he stays fit, it's a tough one for Raducanu.

Isner is getting on for 7 feet tall. His serves come from the sky and bounce much higher than normal. Murray is arguably the best returner of service in tennis. The question is can Andy break Isner's service? On the positive side, Murray is one of the few who have never lost to Isner.

He's also pushing 40 mind, Murray in 4 5 I reckon.

*cough*

Some of the young British players Draper, Jubb, Peniston, Gray, Boulter and Dart have all recently had some good results against some very decently ranked players.
If they keep on improving it could finally be much more interesting in the next few years.
Largest number of Brits into the second round for 25 years.
Perhaps we'll have few make it to the third round and beyond this year.
Good sports good sport as far as I'm involved. If it's exciting, skillful, unpredictable etc I'll watch watch it

Tennis is great to watch, just not so much at Wimbledon.

I love Wimbledon but we watch all the tournaments on TV, it's a great for TV coverage and we are entering a golden period for British tennis I reckon.

Absolutely agree. We've pumped more money into tennis than any other country and finally it's starting to pay dividends. I can see GB entering a golden era of tennis. All we need are a few major wins to encourage the kids to pick up a racquet.

Ryan Peniston is getting wellied which is a shame. Emma isn't expected to beat former world no. 4 Garcia but I hope she can raise her game today.

The most boring American tennis player of all time, he's never served that well, that was shit to watch and I hope he gets snotted in the next round.

To be fair he volleyed really really well, he rolled it back to serve volley days, so every credit.

Edit - Oh and attacked Murray's second serve like it offended him!

Sport hating women is the key demographic of Wimbledon.

what a contrast today is to yesterday. Although neither had easy games you were hoping that Murray and Radacanu could come through but it wasn't to be. Today, you gave little or no chance ro Boulter and Broady but they both performed superbly well to put out some high ranking seeds. Boulter now takes on Tan the conqueror of Serena.

I really wanted to dislike Isner yesterday.
Gurt telegraph pole. However he spoke very graciously and came across really genuinely too.
Enjoyed Broady's post match interview too. He has a cracking sense of humour. Must say a lot of tennis players interviews are a breath of fresh air after some of the monosyllabic footballers that seem to have forgotten what a fantastic job they have.

I'm liking this Jack Draper. Proper name for an English tennis player that and he seems the real deal to coin a phrase I generally detest.
At last a young, talented actual Brit tennis player with a bit of something about him.
Plays like an angry young man. Fantastic first set. A Definite prospect no matter how this Wimbledon goes.

Wearing his cap backwards though, not very English at all that, bad form.

Cracking match 👍

Jack's getting a bit of a lesson at the moment. The Aussie lad is only 10.5 stones but is tough as old boots. Draper will learn a lot tonight win or lose.

Great wins for Heater Watson & Cam Norrie today, Norrie swiped his opponent aside. Both into the last 16 on Monday. Still got Liam Broady and Boulter still to play their 3rd round matches.

Is it monday as I believe there is no middle sunday off this year?

I've watched De Minaur three times in the past week. He's like a bloody robot. Hardly ever makes a mistake on rallies. It would be good to see an outsider win the title and he could be the man.
