Off

There comes a point where you have to think these home postponements are being manufactured.

Before this season aside from when we were in the Prem I don’t recall us having three games off in the last 30 years never mind in the same season 🤨

It's never happened before? Oh yes it has. Some very short memories of you can't remember the day we paid our respects to sir Jim, and the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. There was also one other which one I can't remember but I think it was against Bradford and the NW corner almost had that game postponed. I remember because I was in the posh part for my lunch afore the game.

Seem to remember a couple of games last season that went ahead after it’d been raining all day. Not sure what’s changed

We don't know they have done anything "wrong". People are just assuming it.
Its quite simple its rained and been a bit cold a few times and everytime our pitch isn't up to it when other local clubs pitches have been. The pitch has been dug up two off seasons in a row. And now its only fit for swimming or ice skating in the winter... 😂

I’ve been in Blackpool today and it hasn’t been raining all day.
There has been a strong wind all day and dry till around 12. The rain got heavier from about 2.30 pm.

Exactly.

Calling ourselves tinpot, asking for a groundsman to be sacked, it's beyond belief.

Surprised we haven't asked for sadler to put the club up for sale.
Shock horror fans want to see football club that they pay money into... Play football. I'm sure simon being an owner and having to fork out extra cash on wages will also be annoyed that the game is off... And will be asking questions of those employees from the boardroom down as to why this issue has occurred

This is the fourth postponement in just over a month.

Northampton was postponed on the 19th January. Burton, Peterborough and Doncaster tonight have all been postponed since then

There is no way the amount of rain that fell should be enough for the match to be postponed. The field at the back of where I live in Blackpool has no standing water. Wtf is going on BFC?

Completely agree.
Now I’am no Michael Fish when it comes to the weather forecast but I’d have at a guess it’s put the same volume of water down in Morecambe and that’s on. 🤔

The groundsman needs sacking right now. Where did we get him from? Oldham, nuff said. It would’ve been acceptable under the previous regime but not under Sadler. This is not good enough and not only we need a new pitch but we need a new groundsman that will always try hard to get the game ready, cause the way I see it, the current groundsman just doesn’t try hard enough. This is becoming a joke.
Maybe you should apply for the job if you are such an apparent expert....not

It’s the only game off in England due to Weather.
Some of the comments on here are unbelievable.
Unfortunately a weather front has stalled and remained over the area for longer than normal. It is only a relatively narrow
band of rain and thus only the far west coast of Lancs and Cumbria and southern Scotland have had copious amounts of rain.
With the already high water table due to the excessively wet winter , it does not take a great deal of rain to quickly cause surface water to become a problem if the intensitivity of the rain is severe. The rain in this area has been very intense from around 2pm to 5pm.
Now the surface water will drain away with time but unfortunately not before ko time.
Given the pre existing state of the pitch drainage and the intensity of the rain then there is nothing that the groundstaff could have done to prevent the waterlogging in the short term.
As to the comment above about no water in the fields!!!. Everywhere round here is under water.

Need to replace tbe drainage, particularly at the south end where most of the problems seem to occur

Jesus common sense at last👍🏻 The rain band was supposed to only affect the Irish sea south Cumbria and IOM but has moved a few miles east, what other teams or the groundsman have to do with it god only knows☹️

There are a lot of toys out of the pram and a few dummies launched so far they are probably in lower earth orbit tonight.
Get a grip folks its a game that still has to be played.
It's not like we have had to forfeit the points because of this.
It's disappointing but remember there will be people who are most likely going to have their homes flooded in the next 24 hours because of this rain.

You still haven’t explained why Morecambe can get a game on though
More rainfall in morecambe than fylde coast , fact .
What matters is rain intensity, not total amount. As a golfer i am used to situations like this. A thunderstorm(lasting only 10 minutes) in the middle of summer can cause greens to flood and be unplayable in a matter of minutes. However in 2 hours conditions may be perfect again. Now if the same amount of rain fell over those few hours then conditions underfoot would not have deteriorated and play would have been continuous.
Now that is in summer conditions, if the ground is already saturated due to exceptionally wet winter then this exacerbates the problem.
I've no idea how you know the rainfall totals for Morecambe as they will not have been published yet!!!

It could be pissing down here...and it looks like it is about to....and yet five miles up the road not even raining.
I had an email recently from friends down “south” when it was snowing ( which in essence is another form of rain) saying they saw the heavy snow in Wilmslow and assumed we had it too.No we didn’t and yet Wilmslow is about 5 or 6 miles away if that.
These things happen...and you know what it is called the “Great British Weather” folks.

Was it the interim board who oversaw relaying the pitch? What did they use...clay? 😎
Covers do keep an area dry if you want them too , not laying them flat , but more like a tent effect ,so the water runs away into drainage channels . Like ive said it seems like they didnt want this game to go ahead , wonder why ??

How many of you on the Fylde coast have got a front or back garden that is waterlogged?

Have looked at the Promenade webcam and the weather looks no different than any other rainy day.
We have a pitch built on a sand base ,fact , we have drainage , fact , we knew the weather forecast , cover the pitch till 6 .00 when rain stops , and it did , so why off ??. Not impressive at all ..
