I see that Robert Azevdo head of the WTO has resigned with 3 years of his contract to go believing that there is nothing to do with no negotiations taking place in terms of regular work.
The Yanks blocked any new appointments to the adjudication panel that rules on disputes between nations which has kyboshed the appeals system and there are massive arguments over its budget and cancellation of a ministerial conference while some members are championing unilateral trade actions that violate WTO rules - the while organisation is said to be on the brink of collapse as the USA has a bill going through at the moment that will see its withdrawal from the WTO club.
All this just as Britain looks to join the WTO in Geneva following Brexit when the UN is predicting a 27% drop in World Trade with the USA and China about to cross swords in a trade war that will depress markets further.
Still, we all know better than to hang out with the rest of Europe at a time like this don’t we!
