What’s your thoughts on the ongoing Teacher spat in Batley ? I notice the teachers unions seem very quiet on this incident. What’s your take as a teacher ?

Answered above. Nowhere in the DofE guidelines does it say show pictures of Mohammed in a lesson. The school will also be covered by the RS agreed syllabus for that area. I think he's gone a bit rogue personally.Do we know if the teacher followed the DFE guidelines?
I ask because this teacher seems to have been singled out
I agree with that. Badly handled by the school. It's a manufactured argument being used by extremists on both sides- of course the protests are ridiculous and the teacher should not be sacked over a single issue such as this. However, and obviously I do not teach RE, he may have gone outside his school policy in which case a reprimand or warning may be appropriate. This though should have been done internally and I feel it has been poorly handled by the headteacher.
That’s the whole point, God, Mohammed are meant to be an image that is sacred to you - if you show pictures you define the image and it loses its power.I read once there was a teacher who, whilst running an art class, came across one young girl who was scribbling away and when asked what she was drawing replied 'God.'
The teacher smiled and said 'but no one knows what God looks like', to which the young girl replied, 'well they will as soon as I've finished'.
So, my question is does anyone know what God looks like or indeed what Mohammed looks like?
To be fair Jaffa, most of the newspapers reported that.I see both the teacher and the headmaster have had threats on social media of being beheaded.
Pity they won’t tell you that on the national news.
I've had worse at a Highfield parents evening. Tongueincheeksmiley.I see both the teacher and the headmaster have had threats on social media of being beheaded.

I love this joke, it gets better every time someone puts it on here (about 12 times a day).Apparently it was Boris’s fault
Simply put, some people are obscessed with race/ certain religions and will blame a whole culture for the terrible actions of a few.Why is it that when any issue involving Muslims is discussed on here, the same old posters want to drag it down to grooming gangs?
Yes. It is not compulsory to take it as a GCSE and it is sometimes incorporated into Life) citizenship lessonsI can't believe we still teach religious studies in schools. Is it compulsory?
