Mid 1970s I would imagine.
North Station I got. Platform 2, that's impressive.No, that's North Station platform 2.
Good shout. The Goldmine is built on the Pleasure Beach. It opened in 1971. It must be before 1977 because that's when the Steeplechase was built.Mid 1970s I would imagine.
Platform 1 and 2 was where the London trains came in and was wide enough for parcels traffic and taxis to go up the platform to meet you off the train.North Station I got. Platform 2, that's impressive.
Yep Agree its a good shout, I think that the Tom Sawyer ride can be seen which was opened in1973 and before the steeplechase was built a lot of other stuff was built in the southern area of the park which isn't in the photo so if I had to hazard a guess I would go for 1975ishGood shout. No Space Tower or Revolution.......1972??
Revolution came in around 1979.I missed the Space tower! Revolution was built after Steeplechase????????
Excellant story thatI stood right there next to the photographer when that was taken - he then shared it with me and somehow it ended up in the press
1979 the Revolution.I missed the Space tower! Revolution was built after Steeplechase????????

Mr Hockaday. He’d win a corner and everyone would bang their seats in anticipation
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that , recognised a lot but not all of the players , maybe a lot of youth lads . A great watch of a team ready to win promotion to the top league .
not sure if this has ever been posted.
Great picture. Syd who was also a big feature in the semi-snooker league. I knew Atomic Eddie Greaves and met his son Ken at Claremont primary school. Atomic boys used to parade around the ground before games, kick off 2.15 blowing bugles, bellows, drums and anything they could get their hands on. A tremendous sight and unique to us. The 1950's was a great time to follow 'Pool. I started going on my own with pals around 1950 and still remember the sight of the ground from the top of the KOP before descending to sit on the wall at the front near the goal. Had to get there in plenty of time. Sometimes had a brass band on the pitch. Thanks for this Electric Eel (one of Morty's nicknames)What with the proposed film and all that....Syd Bevers at the Morty statue unveiling aged I reckon about 90.
The kit we should be playing inSir Jimmy.View attachment 324

If he ever went down under a challenge and the physio came on I'd always remember someone in the south saying, "he's come on to give Dave his comb!!"View attachment 22950

Is this at Charlton Athletic, that huge East terrace in '57- we won 4-0?
Could well be. Date is about right and it looks like it.Is this at Charlton Athletic, that huge East terrace in '57- we won 4-0?
It's not Charlton , they play in red and we would have changed to the white shirt in those days.Is this at Charlton Athletic, that huge East terrace in '57- we won 4-0?
I think Chelsea is a fair shout , almost certainly a team in blue.Could be either Birmingham or Chelsea.
John Lynas , Tommy Garrett . John Crosland , Alan Brown, Harry Johnson , ? , Stan Matthews , Eddie Shimwell , Hughie Kelly . Morty ,
I'm going to have a guess at Eric Hayward a defender back in the early 50'sJohn Lynas , Tommy Garrett . John Crosland , Alan Brown, Harry Johnson , ? , Stan Matthews , Eddie Shimwell , Hughie Kelly . Morty ,
Bill Perry , George Farm, Ernie Taylor and Joe Smith.
Any ideas on the one I can't place? I'm pretty sure it's not Cyril Robinson.
I think you're right. He retired at the end of the 51/2 season so that would date the photo slightly earlier than I thought.I'm going to have a guess at Eric Hayward a defender back in the early 50's
Or Ernie TaylorThey obviously didn't have one the right size for Bill Perry :)
Give us a flash lads
