OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

Just seen this on the Facebook group history of Blackpool posted by a Matthew Grimes, apparently we have had super stadium plans multiple times, maybe this is where OO got his stadium idea from.
I've seen similar to that in an old programme, I think it was Sheffield United V Pool roundabout 1948 and it said Blackpool wanted a stadium fit to stage a Cup Final that would rival and be bigger than Wembley. I wonder if a teenage Owen read that at the time.

Yes, this was taken from that programme, the person put the front cover on as well.

I actually took this photo myself whilst a cub reporter at the Gzzzett, they were a rather rowdy bunch of chaps! took ages to get them flash ready. Lovely memories though but.😉C43995AB-CDEC-4945-BFFD-27B740153CEC.jpeg

Levi, when was that photo taken?
I can't work out who the 'Keeper is. it's not George Farm. I can see Alex Munro there and his last season was 1949.
Might have been Robinson.
Not sure Dave, I got it off my wifes Facebook page, but the keeper is Joe Robinson as you say, he only played 1947/8 season & was in goals for the 1948 FA Cup Final,so yes you’re correct again. I knew Jackie Wright as I went to school with Gillian his daughter, and was always round at their house! Hope you’re keeping well in these strange times.

I was at the game it was pretty hairy at full time making our way back to the football special bus which then drove down central avenue through the army of city fans making their way back to north station. A couple tried to board the bus but a good old conductor saw them off
Crazy to think football was like that when you compare it to now!

Character building I imagine 😂

That was December 1981, Schools were shut for a week for the only time I can ever remember due to the weather. I wanted to go down to the ground and help out as I lived in South Shore at the time, I think I was only 12. I got laughed at by my old man at the suggestion of it. Gutted ☹️
I remember it well PMG, the amount of snow that came down was unbelievable and walking around Stanley Park at the time was very picturesque. Couldn’t get to work at Warton for a couple of days 👍 but with no pay👎

I think the Club put an appeal out via The Gazette. I think it was the day before a game that clearly wasn't going to happen. I don't think we played for a few weeks, the weather was that bad.

Simm. I've seen another picture of all the helpers somewhere, taken in the centre circle with the West in the background . Maybe your on that one . Sorry, can't remember where I saw it. If anyone else can ?
