OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

One of my best ever week’s as a Blackpool fan was in mid October 1967, we beat Spurs 3-1 at White Hart Lane on the Saturday, Chelsea 3-1 in a League Cup replay at Stamford Bridge on the following Monday and then Newcastle United 6-0 at Bloomfield Road on the following Saturday. Emlyn Hughes played in all three matches. Alan Skirton our new signing from Arsenal scored 5 goals in those three matches and Alan Suddick stood out in a poor Newcastle team and Blackpool signed him a few weeks afterwards. Attending the League Cup replay at Chelsea was a very difficult decision, Emlyn Hughes and Peter Osgood were involved in a collision in the first game at Bloomfield Road, neither would pull out and Osgood got carried off on a stretcher with a broken leg, Emlyn Hughes got up, rubbed his shin and didn’t even need the trainer. The Chelsea fans were furious as was Ron Chopper Harris and blamed Hughes for breaking their hero Peter Osgood’s leg. This was in the days of football hooligans everywhere so Stamford Bridge was never going to be a safe place for Blackpool fans. Morty offered Emlyn Hughes the opportunity not to play in the Chelsea replay but Hughes wanted to play so I decided I had to go to support him. Emlyn Hughes was man of the match and he didn’t let any of the Chelsea intimidation affect him.

Animals in the circus until 1990. Stables and pens still in the building because of its Grade 1 listing.

Great kit, have the TOFFS version of this. Good to see they stayed true to the design with the sleeves just too short 😂

I've seen clubs do official retro kits, where they rerelease old kits - there is definitely a huge market for it, its something the clubs should jump on.

They were a collectable set of all the First Division teams. You sent off tokens cut from the tea packets.

Wizz, there were 2 series of colour teamgroups ... Famous Football Clubs series 1 issued in 63/4 and the 2nd series issued in 65/66

There's also 3 sets of colour portaits ... International Football Stars series 1 issued in 67/8 and series 2 in 69/70

The final set of colour portraits was issued in 73/4 as Football Stars

I've got all these sets in my collection ... I love them ! 😀

I remember the later football stars. Brilliant pictures on heavy duty cardboard. I think you needed about 12 Typhoo tea packet fronts for each pic, As a kid it was so exciting to see the post man walking towards your house before school with a big "Do not bend" brown envelope. Unfortunately no Pool stars at that time.

I have bought this photo, can anybody identify anything else on the Blackpool skyline other than the Tower, Big One and the Pleasure Beach?
The tram shed on the left, St Johns, should be the Coniston fells on the right background but they look a bit 'off' to me. Not so much the right background but the fells on the left shouldn't be there? Maybe it's the angle and massive zoom.

Thx , can you direct me to St John’?

It's a bit doctored I think. I didn't realise that Lytham St Annes was built after the big one.

St Annes is there very far right out of photo, it's the angle, right of the photo are the dunes. The fells aren't correct though unless someone can explain.

The fells have been shifted then. From the angle the fells, especially LHS shouldn't be seen. Nice pic, but photoshopped. If not Blackpool should twin with Boulder.

You could get the Coniston fells that close with the right lens but left hand should be Barrow and then nothing.
