OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

Not sure. Southport is further out than we are, especially when the tide is out, so that might affect the angle
It's annoying me now!

That's definitely the Coniston Fells on the right, Dow Crag and The Old Man. The fells of any height from that angle behind would be the Scafells maybe with a bit of Pillar/Scoat Fell further North sticking out, but they don't look like the Scafells on the left or Pillar and you'd have no chance of seeing them from sea level behind the Furness Fells or even Hardknott at a push. The ridge on the left just doesn't belong there at all, that's virtually Whitehaven.

I'm saying photoshopped but would be very happy to be proved wrong.

I don't have the cartographic internal picture of the Lakeland Fells that Lytham has, though I wish I did, as I've been up them all. I can say, looking at the map, that if the Big One appears to the west of the Tower, then the viewing point must be deep into the Ribble Estuary, around Hesketh Bank / Tarleton, in which case you'd be looking straight out onto the Irish Sea, not at the Lakes, I reckon.

Very happy to be proven wrong, though, as the views of the Lakes from Fleetwood can be particularly stunning, and perspective plays strange tricks.

I think the ridge on the left is Black Combe. That is about 600m high

That's a great shout! Cheers.

Still don't know what's behind the Coniston fells though, it can only be the Scafells?

Take a look at Page 18 and the comment by Tangerine Peel 26th Jan which is near the end of Page 18 where Steve Seymour has attached a Twitter response from the photographer Kevin Jackson AstroCookBook as to how he took this photo, which also includes the same photo taken on his mobile phone on the same day and time from the very same Southport location. I can’t say I understand how he did it but IMO definitely not photoshopped. in addition this photo is now being commercially sold, all profits going to charity, with the guarantee that this is a genuine photograph.

I bought a framed copy of this photo, but lots of discussion still on here about whether the image is photoshopped. The issues raised are mainly about the mountains in the background.

From that angle you'd see Millom fells. Not sure you'd see Coniston fells where they are. And as you say nothing to the left.

Not sure if this is any help to your discussion

That's exactly where I stood for that last match v Colchester? about 20 years ago when they opened the Kop for us for the very last time. A few tears in my eye as we left knowing we'd never get that view again, the memories of Suddick, Green and Burns came flooding back from my childhood.
