OLD PICTURES OF BLACKPOOL FC

Not just me then.
True story this.....as a kid I recall my Mum doing Spot the Ball in the Gazette. One day, I recognised the photo and dug out my programmes. Sure enough, the Gazette had used the same pic from my programme. My Mum, delerious with joy attempted to 'mark the spot', only to find, a week later, that the 'ball' was nowhere near the true and actual photo. The Gazette drew attention to the small print where it says, 'where, in the opinion of the judges, the ball would be'. She never did Spot the Ball again.......

Which reminds me. You don't see people in the crowd in the programme with a circle round their head which entitled them to a prize any more. I thought about turning up at a game with my head in a large cardboard circle to increase my chances.

On the flip side back in the days of prints being used in the page make up the Gazette photo dept had a box of various size cut out footballs to stick on the prints where they had missed it on the roll of film.

Long time reader, first time poster. I'm in Sheffield these days but grew up in Chipping, and during the above relegation season - salmon pink kit and Gary Brook upfront - this photo appeared in the programme.

Not only does it have Morgy skipping over a challenge from the Cardiff full-back (I think) but it also has me, Rob Peckham (also a Chippiner) and Alan 'Mason kid' Mason leaning on the small pitch wall, just under the Cardiff players top arm.

Anyone recognise someone in the photo?

That season I also remember a Wolves fan, old gold shirt on and on his hols, walk past me on that sunken terrace with a reefer in his mouth that was about 12in long.

Up the Pool.

tangerinesoulmann That was my first ever Pool game, when I was nine, so I don't have 100% recall, but I remember the goal at the kop end, and I think the Bolton team threatened to walk off because Suddick scored direct from an indirect freekick. There was quite a rumpus. Happy to be corrected, though.
Yes ref indicated an indirect free kick but The King bent one over the wall into the net and ref awarded the goal and Notlob protests were ultimately in vain. It was obvious to Pool fans The King was going to attempt a bender as he did his usual routine of half crouching then slapping his thighs 3 times before running up to strike the ball. The foul leading to the free kick warranted a direct free kick award IMO. Hey ho another 2 points👍😀

How red were those seats....

The bloke in the box has got the easiest signals man job in the country. Maybe he's like the Japanese soldiers still fighting the war in the Pacific 10 years after the war finished. 😆
It’s Wiz before he got an even cushier job in the Civil Service.😂

Central Station closed in 64, but that box stayed open until the 70s as it controlled South Station which was substantially larger than it is now.
