Oldham supporters club @PTB_OAFC are asking supporters 'not to attend home games' due to a feeling of 'disconnect between the custodian of our club and the fans'. They say they want to 'back the team, not the regime' We have asked the club for comment.

Interesting only home games and I don't know if it's the case that this doesn't extend to away games?

That's what our original Not A Penny More campaign was. No home games, because that puts money in the club that ends up in the owners' pockets. Away league games were OK, but not cup matches, as the club got a share.

Serious question , did you think that our NAPM campaign included away games?

I fully went along with protest , but I did go to both Accrington & Morecambe away , so we must have gone to a few , obviously getting the all clear from avftt first .

Fair play to them. It's the only way I can see for fans to send the strongest possible message if they're not happy. When it's gone beyond all reasonable doubt that their owner is not in it for the good of their club and is running it down for other reasons.

Still handing over your money means you're just moaning for the sake of it and usually when that's still happening it just means that if the team wins a few games then it's likely all forgotten until the next flare up.

The only reasons I wouldn't go to away games in those circumstances would be advanced ticket purchase through the club where the owner takes a cut. Or if I felt such a disconnect with the whole thing that it was easier to draw a line under it until in a position to move forward again. I remember seeing messages from our lot who'd been to Scunthorpe and were paranoid that a camera was being pointed at the away end. Concerns over whether the O's were gathering evidence in some way. When it gets like that it's easier to think f** this for a game of soldiers. You can't derive any sort of pleasure from your day when that sort of thing is always on the back of your mind.

Only attended 1 away game the entire boycott, Blackburn away when we got beat 3 nil. Easily one of the worst Blackpool performances I've seen but I had a great time as me and a few mates just treated it as a big piss up.

There were a few games when away tickets were through the club but after representations from BST, some clubs allowed buying in advance from them direct. I know I got emails from a few clubs afterwards because I was on their mailing list as a consequence. Peterborough was one.

Fleetwood was one where tickets had to be obtained through Bloomfield Rd incurring monies to the Oystons as a result. No direct sales.

I always followed The Latics. My 1st wife and my daughter were both born in Oldham.
We lived for a short time in Oldham in the late 50s and I used to go to Boundary Park when work permitted.
Always follow their results and would support a similar 'Not a Penny More' for their team.
Go for it Latics fans, it's the only way to get rid of lousy owners.
P.S. No matter what people say, our NAPM made a big difference in the fight against unscrupulous owners.

Away games were fine if you could potg. I know because I went to games and never once broke the code. Unlike those at Villa in the cup - as a totally random example.

I remember that there was advice from BST before practically every away game about how to get tickets from home clubs, plus rules on banners and flags etc. I know that is how I knew what to do.
I think this was the most fractious part of #NAPM - those who criticised fans for still following the team away from home. Personally gave up completely after Huddersfield and didn't return until Southend.

I never criticised the fans going to away games if they bought their tickets from the away team club or paid on the day. I couldn’t go to away games because if I did I would have wanted to go the the home games which I simply wasn’t going to do
Stayed away completely till our first game back which in my case was Accrington away followed by Southend at home

We all had our own opinions and caused many arguments on here.
There were those that took the NAGM approach. Either they wanted to detach from the team or those who were average fair weather fans and lost interest.
I like many other die hard fans went to several away games ( POTG) as I didn’t want to lose interest in my team. Also large away followings with home boycotts would prove that we carEd for our team and not the owners.

Someone should write a book about that period specifically to ensure that is is well documented for posterity and to serve a guide to other clubs who might want to follow our lead.

Yep I went to a good number of away games and no home.
It was a wierd experience as although it was good supporting the team, the buzz or soul had gone out of it.
Totally different now.
Dark times.

I wonder if the (visual) impact will be less now we have become accustomed to empty stadiums via Covid?
The financial hit will remain at least.
Suspect they will have the same problem with ‘mushrooms’. They will never get 100% compliance either

I didn't go away because there was no point really, the love had gone.
It’s amazing how quickly you forget how bad it was .
I really don’t know if I could do it again - took a chunk out of me.
Makes next season even more exciting - it’s just pure now .
Can someone resurrect “overthrow” … best reply was “you should have bought a paper “😂😂😂

Exactly the same. Couldn't get remotely interested in what was going on on the pitch and ended up drifting off to the pub around half time with DSOTL and a few others. Then a mad train journey home 😂 🏝️ 🚀

I think all the old threads have gone, the fansonline servers are ironically, offline.

I went to away games but always bought tickets from the away side direct. Still get emails from a number of clubs asking if I want tickets for various games.

BST did a lot of work in ensuring that clubs knew the consequence financially if they didn't allow POTG or at worst, direct from them in advance.

NAPM is the only way to get rid.

Its painful but worth it.
It was belekons legal team that got rid of the oystons…clearly napm helped..👍
Two statements that reflect how tough it is! NAPM hurt the Oystons but was never going to be the killer blow.
The fact is that with the EFL and Sky money now clubs can operate without fans. They just drive them in to the ground.
Ironically this Oldham bloke has actually paid off quite a bit of their debt but I hear the problem is the way he treats managers and players (getting shut every 5 minutes) more than anything.
