Anyone on here used to travel on them to away games back in the day?

I remember me and my mate first started on them, sitting near the front and we wouldn’t say “boo to a goose” We progressed over the years, never made the sacred back seats but got to next to the back, lol.
Used to stagger off the bus plenty of times, trying to keep up with Oz on the drinking front 😭😭😭

Darlington away 1985 is one that springs to mind.

Winning away 4-0 in front of approximately 2,500 Pool fans.

We stopped at a Village on the way back and went into a working man's and got hammered.

Remember getting back on the coach with a full pint and I still have the glass.

Yes lots of memories over the years UTMP

Hahaha yes mate. I remember we used to judge if we could get another in by seeing how many oz had left. Once we saw he had three full pints so went for another by the time we sat back down, the infamous shout “were f****** off” and he would t wait for anyone 😭😭😭

I was introduced to the bus by Billy Ellis and thus allowed onto the second back seat from the off ; immediately in front of the late, great Jonathan Parker. Ossie had what I thought was a wholly admirable attitude to drinking, as did JP. 😊

Used to be a pain getting tickets from supporters club during week.

Some of the drop off points at grounds were scary shit as well

I remember in my first season on the bus trekking down from Fleetwood on a Monday night to the Supporter's Club. This was because I was scared that if I left it too late I would miss out for the Saturday trip to Bristol Rovers.

I waited over half an hour for Ossie to turn up (in a deserted club) before eventually the Great Man arrived.

He looked me up and down and said " Four quid. We leave at 7 o'clock, don't be late."

I was ecstatic - I was in time! I turned over my ticket - and saw I had got number 2.....

I also used to trek from Fleetwood to the supporters club for tickets and spent a lot of time waiting around and then being sold a ticket by a rude person.
Great man indeed! A bit of friendliness to young fans starting to support the club wouldn't have gone amiss.

Its a pity you guys haven't got your own social club -independent and owned by the fans. One of the many traditional things generally lost to football.

I don't think the idea that we should all be ambassadors for our club had really developed by the mid-1970s.

I got battered at Brammall Lane the following season and he held the coach back to wait for me after someone told him they had seen me and that I was in trouble.

Hahahaha yeah ossie weren’t the best with his customer service skills - that’s exactly what he said to us when we booked

JP and myself became very good friends after meeting on a trip to Rhyl on a handy bus from the supporters club, I can’t remember the year but the Rhyl friendly was arranged when we signed David Eyres.

Yes travelled on Ossie and Sheps coaches loads of times in the late sixties , early 70s . Seem to remember the driver was often an old bloke , who appeared at least to me at the time to be about 80 ! Back row merchant me .

Yup used to make the lonely dark walks to the old social club for the little white coach ticket.
Think my first was Luton away in the Milk Cup, about 35 years ago.

Ossie and Shep, What a double act, don’t recall ever seeing em smile! Had some good away days though late 60’s early 70’s. Luton away 71/72ish stopped at Brum supporters club on way home, things got a bit tasty if I recall correctly, not sure if we were banned from away trips after that,it’s all a blurrr now.

Yes Levi we were banned for a while, remember going to Millwall away on the overnight National Express coach.
Went with a certain GS, tasty atmosphere there full of skinheads.
If my memory serves me right we won 1-0 and Suddick scored.
We managed to blag a lift back on the Supporters coach,, don't know how we managed that.
We could write a book about those days.
Do you remember Norwich away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever happened to Paul L he suddenly stopped going but hadn’t passed away at the time I seem to recall?

Yes I also travelled with Oz coaches on occasions and if DB wasn’t running one.

What was the guy called on the back row always wore a black leather jacket and was the brunt of Oz”s and the rests, banter?

Dave, we could write a book on the Norwich away game alone! What a mini bus load that was! Skins, greasers, and one certain teddy boy. August 1969, the pitch spraying incident, commotion in Norwich city centre after the game to say the least, the legendary GS at the centre of it! Eeeh, them were’t days!!

Went a lot one week

Hated when he stopped for a beer behind Watford gap services as I was always skint

But Ossis and Paul were good lads

Looked after us when first started going to the tune of if your not back we leave whilst jingling his change

Happy days

SK, are you talking about Trevor Caton's mate - went with his brother? Pete something, I think.

I remember on the coach coming back from Torquay (I think) we had got beat anyway.

one of the young(ish) element started singing “we know a song that will get on your nerves, get on your nerves” anyway after about five minutes of it Oz went absolutely skitz “we’ve just been fcuking beat, you tw@t” etc, etc - never saw him go that mad. Me and my mate were pissing ourselves laughing but trying to hold it in, like naughty school kids.
never saw the lad after that...
