Ghosts of Electricity

Well-known member
With all this virus and working from home, I'm thinking I may continue to do so after this period has lifted. I'm encouraged to do so anyhow and my job lends to it.

I'm looking at pricing up a outside detached space a the bottom of my garden and wondered if anyone has similar. A small space that needs to have electric, completely sealed against damp, secure etc.... Basically a glorified shed!!

Does anyone on here have similar, if so how is it? Would you recommend anyone? And most importantly a ballpark cost?

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine (in Suffolk) was building CART LODGES. They can be open storage or something like you want. Wooden framed buildings. I don't know the prices but you could google them. Just had a google and maybe they might be a bit expensive.

I bought my (then 16 year old ) son a shed for Xmas. It was a big one and cost around £600. Insulated it - plasterboard inside, electrics run from the house, even had a storage heater. Carpeted and decorated it. Him and his mates lived it and at least we knew where he was! Total cost was around £1k.
He’s left home long ago and it’s got all my gardening stuff in now.

Think it was Walton’s Ghosts. All I’m trying to say is that £10k seems a bit excessive - I know you want it to be comfortable as it will be your main workspace, but if you can get something you like and adapt then it could work out a whole lot cheaper. There are some really nice looking pod/summer houses out there .

Cheers, that sound sensible. Will start looking into it.
