Our summer spending

I don't want to be negative. I don't want to have a pop at Sadler. But how much have we spent? We seem to be way off what is needed to compete in this division. We need proven championship players. Players who are comfortable on the ball. Midfielders who are happy to receive the ball whilst under pressure. I'm sorry but the likes of James and Ward in the middle just will not cut it at this level. The chequebook has to come out at some point.

Cardiff were big physical lads who just pushed and shoved us off the ball and we didn’t have an answer.

Coventry were a small team in comparison but just as physical yet they still managed to push and shove us off the ball far too easily.

Once again we looked far too lightweight in every department.

Sadler can't spend money he hasn't got. We haven't got a super rich owner. But we've got a good owner. I'm not going to stomp my feet.
I thought the idea of increasing the season ticket prices and matchday prices was to be more competetive with our budget. We seem to have just taken the cheap option so far. Maybe they are holding money back for a couple of big signings? I certainly hope so because what wd have so far isn't enough.

Our budget must have increased significantly. More than the ticket price rises account for.

Our summer signings haven't been good enough. All signings that may or may not pay off. Reminds me of Oystons signings.

I think, if we're all honest, our summer signings haven't set this forum alight. It's been more who? or why? than wow! We have found two gems in Lavery and Bowler and have been unlucky having Dougall and Stewart coming back late and a lack of a solid central defensive partnership - however there are big gaps in the 'squad' which still need filling. Of course Ballard, Embleton and Simms all arrived late and maybe that is Critch's plan - see how we get on and then fill in the gaps.

Critchley said himself that towards the end of the window you get the players you want or wouldn't expect to be available as they realise they're without a club and start to get desperate.

Must be a deliberate tactic of ours to wait as we saw it last season when we signed a few players who became some of our best (Dougall and Ballard I believe?) right at the death. I'm hoping that's what we'll see with who we need (a CAM and a RB!)

Lets hope we use the loan market as well as we have done in the past couple of seasons, because we need 4-5 physical players who are ready to go straight into the first team.

I think Bowler and Lavery have been good signings. Haven't seen enough of Casey and Carey, maybe ones for the future? Agree Keogh looks pedestrian at times and is slow, he drops two or three yards deeper than the rest of the defence resulting in us getting caught at the back. We still have Stewart, Mitchell and Gretarson to come back who will all challenge for the starting line up.

Reece-James is not a centre mid so will withhold judgement until he plays in his favoured position.

I think we have enough going forward to stay in this league. We need three quality defenders, two of which need to be able to get us up the pitch quicker and ideally 6' 5" and built like shit houses. I think Ward can do it at this level, he just needs the right people in there with him. I still think we will sign 2 permanents and 2 or 3 loans. Let's not panic.

Watch the highlights to all the games so far and we are creating chances, we are just giving too many to the opposition.

I'm still positive.

Noticed that Lincoln signed TJ Eyoma from Spurs yesterday for an undisclosed fee, kind of signing we could be making?
