Central defender Moore playing alongside Thornylei subbed at HT, assuming injured. Thornylei himself subbed just before FT with an injury. The show must go on 🤣🤣

Hope Thorniley isn’t too badly injured because he may well still be a great bargaining chip in the Brannagan transfer. Injuries to him won’t help with his transfer value.

It’s vital that he is not out for long. Unfortunatly they won today, and are still very much in the mix, but I have a feeling that the fact he is still not recalled means there might be a deal on the board

Demi Mitchell departing may well sort 2 transfers.

Mitch Money +Thorniley+ £500k = Brannagan✓

Kirk on loan.✓
That would do nicely

Thorniley's injury didn't look anything major - went down as we scored our winner so was a bit distracted, but pretty sure it was just cramp.

As I think has been said before, I believe Brannagan's release clause has expired for this window. Based on your previous offers, I'm very confident he won't be sold this Jan (even with Thorniley recall).

I'm not being smug or anything like that - very likely he'll be sold in summer if we don't go up, and probably for less than you have offered this window.

I think with Stewart getting back to fitness, Robson back, Husband, James and Garbutt injured and Gretarsson seemingly on the way out it's getting to the stage where we need Thorniley more than we need Brannagan.

Brannagan's just too expensive and we don't need him that much.

If he is a combative, creative midfielder.....

Yes we do.

Our league status is virtually assured, we have enough options in central midfield to see us through to the end of the season.

We need someone like Brannagan, but we can afford to be patient, look at the options in the summer and see if there's better value out there than paying top dollar for a L1 player.

I think the release clause value's him too highly tbh, and that's supported by the fact that no other club has met the release clause either (apparently there was interest from a couple of other clubs in the summer?). I don't blame Oxford for holding out for that, however we are doing ok without him and that has meant we can afford to be patient. We have other options and aren't in a hurry or in a state of panic.

Would have been a fair price when he agreed to it + signed his extension, unfortunately had his really bad eye infection soon after which wiped off pretty much a whole season + any interest.

Back to his best now, but with little time left on his contract his value has probably degraded below the clause. If we don't go up, I'd probably expect him to join youse in summer (for cash + Thorniley?).

We may well turn to a different option now, in this window. Several midfielders linked to us over the last week. Maybe a loan to cover us through til the summer.

After yesterday a left back has become a high priority. Husband, James and Garbutt all injured and Mitchell seemingly on his way out (and not really rated as a left back). Thorniley is not a left back but like Gretarsson could play on the left of a back three. However that does not solve the problem as CJ and Dale are not cut out as wingbacks.

He's played there before, mostly on loan in L2 but a few games for Wednesday, he's not particularly big for a CB, especially at this level so he should be comfortable enough at LB.

Ox T'up North, I think that Robinson has pissed us off one too many times and I reckon that we'll let Thorniley go this window, but not to you.
