Parachute Payments

Heard one of the lads in the studio yesterday say the 3 relegated teams will get about 80 million parachute payment.

This is a disgrace & gives them an advantage straight away, I think personally it’s ridiculous, im sure alot might disagree with me.

How are teams supposed to compete against teams getting that sort of money its no wonder Norwich & Fulham can go up & down like Yoyo’s.

On the other hand without that reassurance the clubs wouldn't be able to try and compete in the PL because of the fear of long contracts. Essentially the PL would become a closed shop bar the odd club every now and then who have found their own 'pp'.

I don’t know necessarily about that, its still the prestige of getting up (massive amount of money from been promoted) & staying up.

In fact it would make the Prem teams more hungry & eager possibly to stay up if there was a hell of a lot less in the parachute money

Also the bottom three clubs got about £100 millions a piece for tv rights

It’s one if those isn’t it, everyone loves them and defends them when they are on the receiving end and can eaaily justify a reason for them to be paid.

Then they don’t seem fair when you‘re not and you’re competing against clubs who’ve just received the windfall.

Bottom line if you cant manage your business in line with a long term plan that its feasible you could be relegated then you shouldn't be in business in football. Its gone on for too long and is completely unfair. Oh we have spent too much money trying to stay in the Prem but failed, no problem here's another 100 million to help you. Bollox, what other business gets that type of assistance.

Potentially 9 Clubs are on parachute payments in the Championship which makes sides not in the Rishi Sunak world really switching every fire, CH and light off

To stay in this league is a massive achievement practically as good as getting into the Prem 12 years back - given our pennies budget compared to some Clubs (almost half) and Sunak player income levels.

We face a very very difficult new season with the teams coming Up from league 1 being much wealthier than us.

Harder season expected, every goal and point vital

Do they still get divided between the other championship clubs if they go straight back up ?

I wonder how many times Norwich and Watford will be on Sky next season , I wonder if Sky still have a soft for West Brom too.

Sky will continue showing West Brom more than any other Championship team.Even if they spend the majority of the season in mid table. Watford will be on a lot followed by Norwich.
