Terrible tragedy and I have no time for religious headcases, however, if reports are to be believed, this teacher was 'teaching' kids about Mohammed using images.
Now why on earth would he be doing that, knowing the dangers?

The primary intention of the police, when discharging a firearm, is to prevent an immediate threat to life by shooting to stop the subject from carrying out their intended or threatened course of action.

Shoot to stop, not shoot to kill.

In most circumstances this is achieved by aiming to strike the central body mass (ie, the torso) and is known as a ‘conventional shot’.

The torso... you know, where the heart, lungs, and central aorta are located. Any of which if hit will likely prove fatal. Therefore, if the police shoot they expect it is probable that the target may die. The lucky survive.

They shoot at the torso simply because it is the largest target and will most likely knock over the target and head shots may miss. Unless of course, the shooter is six inches away in the case of Jean Charles de Menezes. I have had enough of this morbid argument. It’s pathetic.
