Paul Weller Fans

BBC2 now with BBC Symphony Orchestra. Brilliant. If you’re not a fan don’t bother commenting

I wouldn't call myself a Paul Weller fan but I will comment if that's OK.

I've just taped all the programmes with him tonight because he has banged out some good tunes in his time.

What's everybody's favourite Paul Weller/Jam song ?

Without thinking too hard, I'd say That's Entertainment and Town Called Malice but I'll probably have missed out some better ones.

I’ll go Peacock Suit - everything Weller is in that one.

Must say this prog is wonderful especially the guest singers James Morrison and Boy George, such a shame no audience to bring the house down.

Edit : Add in Celeste to that list, beautiful!

Just listening to some of the Style Council's more ropey moments on BBC 4. Topped and tailed by some blazing tunes from my past though - All the astounding early stuff, now doing Sunflower, our garage band used to do this one 👍

His early solo stuff always put me in mind of Steve Marriott/ Steve Winwood (2 old faves of mine) in the way his voice changed.

You do something to me...used it in a tribute video to a dachshund I lost 12 years ago

RIP Freja

Had the luck and pleasure to see The Jam 5 times in two years when I was 15-17. They were stunningly good. Didn't mind Style Council but I can't get on with a lot of his solo stuff. New albums ok though.
Seen From the Jam once and Foxton hasn't changed. My Mrs bumped into him at the gig and she nearly fainted.
Seeing them with Selecter in Manchester early next year.

Not a huge fan but Town Called Malice is a beauty. Having spent time in Woking I echo the sentiments.

Saw the Jam a few times back in the day, and more recently From the Jam on a couple of their tours. As you say, Foxton just hasn't changed.

Fantastic live back then and From the Jam give it a damned good go. They're at Leeds Beckett in October with The Selecter.

I'm actually going for Selecter more than From the Jam. I've seen Selecter probably more times than most bands. From the Jam are a huge huge bonus though.

Apparently he wrote some of us his tunes very quickly after getting after a night on the p1ss.

He wouldn't been out of place on here with his political views and it was funny when Cameron used to tell everybody that Eaton Rifles was his favourite song and Weller used to say, "He's just doesn't get it".

I wonder if Cameron loved Eaton Rifles as much as the Villa ?

Booked for the Blackburn gig, postponed 2 or 3 times now, but it'll be a top night.
He's got great taste, the cover versions he's done have made me aware of some wonderful lesser-known songs.
