Pink Ball test thread

Still can’t get my head around all those people in the stadium. I can’t even meet my pals for a drink until March 29tn mental.

Batting time and posting 140 would be a massive achievement at this point, then it's over to Anderson, Broad and Archer to bail us out. I've got a horrible feeling we'll be behind by close of play.

Is it just me or was that clearly not out? He looks to rub it along the ground. We'd be moaning like buggery if they did that. Am I seeing it wrong?

Indian commentator just mentioned Broad's best career figures of 8-15 against Australia, and childishly said "nobody mentioned that pitch"

I remember that match. It was all about the quality of bowling in overcast conditions, the pitch was fine because England scored comparatively well on it. Very lazy by their commentator.

Shocking batting performance again. Doesn't really matter what you do, if you're out for so few in the first knock it's almost impossible to get back into the game unless the pitch is a genuine minefield.

I was very struck by the lack of footwork. The pitch has turned throughout, but not extravagantly, and they should have been able to counter it. But so many of them were trapped on the crease.

It's partly a product of the obsession with limited over cricket. When they are faced with bowlers who use variations in flight and pace they struggle to cope because they don't see it in the slogathons.

If spin is going to be the key here I don't fancy Leach and Root versus their three. Let's hope the seamers can do something under the lights in the final session.

I just have the feeling we're massively "undercooked" going in to this series, it's bad enough trying to win a series in India without players coming back and forward in this rotation system, looking at the line up this morning half of them have not seen a spinner since last summer and we expect them to go out and perform miracles, not a chance. When tourists side come to England they usually acclimatise by walloping quite a few counties first so by the time the first test comes around they are not totally befuddled by Jimmy and Broad moving the ball around on a cloudy morning in Leeds. Whoever agreed to this rotation farce and having no warm up game needs a boot up his backside.

Although the pitch doesn`t look great for the first day of a Test Match that doesn`t excuse the way we succumbed all too often to the ball that didn`t turn. If we don`t have a good last session today the game is virtually gone.

Just thought about watching a bit of the test match, rather expecting around 150 for 2 or something like that. FFS I don't think I'll bother having read this thread.

Stokes is a terrible choice here. He's way too easy to hit and he's got himself in a mood over his landing foot. Shite!

I'll keep chuntering away on my own on here. Archer having a moan at Leach but he's jogged in today. Not worth bothering with in my opinion.

Brilliant Leach after chasing halfway round the boundary a few moments ago. Our stand out bowler by a mile today.

Well a day the umpires showed there true colours
India appeal out prove me wrong, very close just catching stumps goes with on field
England appeal no out prove me wrong, very close just catching stumps goes with on field
3rd umpire very quick not out off just one view
Stokes catch no view from behind
Stumping even quicker when it looked like batters foot was still in the air

Anyone would think that we've made a pig's ear of dealing with the virus.
Oh I forgot about India’s world class health system for the billions that live there and the millions that live in abject poverty on the streets.

Seem to have managed the virus better than we have. 50,000 in the stadium as opposed to our...

He bowled really nicely. I really enjoy watching him bowl. There's nothing fancy, he's just an excellent finger spinner. I think people under rate him cos he doesn't rip it and looks like a bloke not sportsman.

Well here we go 4 overs gone and we’re already chasing what is going to be a big lead if ever we need early wickets we’ll todays that day.
Pitch repairs already after just 5 overs. 🤔
Edit wicket Jack Leach. 👍
