Played 29, Points 40 - identical to 2009/10 season

Also interesting, just in case there's anyone who still doesn't think we're safe, is how many points third from bottom had at this stage. 9 more than is the case currently, and at the end of the season third from bottom finished on 47. I think we've already reached the required number of points to stay up as it's going to be very low this season.

In 2009/10 we got into the playoffs with one of the lowest points total. I don't think that will happen this season

My guess is 75 points so
We need 2 points per game for the rest of the season and the only team that has so far got 2 points a game is Fulham at the top ,so we need to play like a top of the table side for the rest of the season to finish 6th .Great challenge for the lads

From memory, in 2010 were on 51 points with eight games left:
From there we won 6, lost 1 (Newcastle), drew 1 (last game but Swansea lost)

In 2009/10 we got into the playoffs with one of the lowest points total. I don't think that will happen this season
Maybe. With so many decent teams taking points off each other, the points threshold for playoffs gets lower but that means there are more decent teams competing for those slots.

If the points at the bottom are less then surely the points at the top are greater, hence a play off place is further out of reach than it was then so in reality we need to be on more than we currently are to be in a comparable position ?
Normally that would be correct but, in a year where the points at the bottom are impacted by the punishments of points deductions on Derby and Reading, it doesn’t really follow. I think we are talking somewhere in the region of 70-72 points to make the play offs.

I thought it was allover after the 4-1 tubbing we got at Newcastle but as usual we suddenly came from nowhere into the play offs with momentum in our favour!
Our good run started before that. My mate was saying, "keep winning our games and we'll be in the play-offs". I'd written off the Newcastle away game beforehand and still thought he was right. Where we got lucky was against Bristol City and Swansea had a goal ruled off-side against Doncaster.

I remember going to Sheffield Utd away and thinking it was all over that season, they scored after 1 minute and tanked us 3-0 - we then went on the run we did. Stranger things have happened than history repeating...

I’ll say there’s no chance when……………it’s mathematically impossible.
I go to every game hoping we’ll win. Does that help?
