Did a walk around Chat Moss too last year. Sounds a bit ironic but I presume the building of the M62 is what made that area cut off?

Looking at it, it seems the reason they floated the railway was they tried draining the bogs but just couldn't. It's lower than everywhere around it so that possibly an other reason why it's cut off cos a lot of it just isn't worth the effort to build on.

Also, seemingly the railway still floats on the same stuff as it did in 1829 - Heather covered in tar and timbers in a herringbone pattern. I find that incredible.

loads of us have got Irish blood running through our veins, don't matter what nation, race, creed, colour, orientation you are, if you are Proud to wear our colours, we are glad that you are one of us, I would say its the same for all British footy clubs whoever you support, ( apart from a very few numpties) we are just not a racist /phobic nation. despite what the very loud, vocal small amount of political activists say ☘️☘️🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

I guess so. Some of it is an sssi but I'd guess you are right. It's really odd how you walk through nothing and then hit Salford on the other side. I grew up in a pit village that backed on to it. It was a fantastic childhood tbh. Used to go on the road up to the moss collecting horse shit with one of the old pitmen to put on his allotment, there was a proper rag and bone cart and used to love going and watching the trains racing across the moss. Feels like something from another age when I think of it.

It's a strange landscape, all the self built houses. Proper gypsy country, has a slightly 'off the map' feel about it.

Here's a completely random fact. When they built the Liverpool to Manchester line, the actually floated across the moss and bogland and I believe I'm right in saying, the layer of whatever it was they floated it on wasn't altered until this century, possibly when they electrified the line. I think it was basically a wooden platform that they then built up and around
Bundles of twigs wrapped in fleeces. I thought it still was.

Us girls go to Dublin for lasses weekends and always have a ball with the Irish lads and lasses. We should have been there last month but covid put a stop to that we have rebooked a weekend in December.

No problem with you being Irish, we’re in the modern age of 2021 for pity’s sake, it’s not as though you are Welsh.

I'm from Bispham and Norbreck by birth and childhood, but if you look deeper into my heritage I am an eighth Irish. So most " English" people need to realize that most of us in the UK are a real mixture of heritage.

My DNA said that I had a minute amount of Irish in me.
God knows when, I've traced back a couple of hundred years and they're all English.
However, my DNA also said that i had 'Northern European' in there also. 🙄

Oh, you poor lamb! Still, ne'r mind eh? It's taking the attention away from certain other groups. 😂😂😂
