PLW update

What odds they are renewing their rivalry with Fleetwood in the Northern Premier League (old money) in five years time? 😀

In all seriousness, it needs sorting. You can see why their fans are so fed up. I think we got very lucky with our Receiver.

I could have sworn they sold their training ground to the Knobbers. On the face of it sounds like a bargain to get the football club, stadium, training ground and club for around 7M even if they start in League 2 next season.

They had two!

If they finish the season and are still in administration at the start of next season will they start on minus 15

We might have got lucky with timing; the pandemic might be putting a few off. There again as well know, there aren't any other SS's out there.

They got a bit chippy when I wrote a piece about a possible lack of mult millionaire Wigan fans but I meant it in the nicest possible way.

The club is a relative bargain, but I assume the associated costs of putting it on an even keel and doing anything with it are putting people off.

Let’s be honest, they just don’t have the history and kudos behind them, and insufficient fans for someone to take a punt. A Non league restart beckons.

Historically, their fan base is tiny. It will be interesting to see how well they do in holding on to all those who came on board in the Whelan era. It's a rugby town.

Hmm I'm not too sure, as although their fanbase was tiny pre Whelan they've had great success inc an FA Cup win and made football (in the town) a viable option. Granted they are never going to get great gates at whatever level they play at, but I think they've enough to make it work at L1 level.

No history? They have won the FA Cup. And a lot more recently than we did.
Their main problem is that they are a small town stuck between Liverpool and Manchester. Hence the Rugby League affiliation. Same with Warrington, Leigh, St Helens and such.

But if you compare them with us, we are the only professional sporting club in the town, they aren’t and they aren’t the main club either. Their success under FA Cup Dave was the only point in the clubs history when they’ve been out of the shadow of Wigan Rugby League. That and when they signed Joe Garner obviously...
