Has anyone got a PIV unit or any experience of installing one.
Q: do they work?
Q: can they be fitted in a bedroom?

I'm thinking of putting one in my house as we have a lot of condensation despite leaving windows open etc etc.

A couple of people I know have had them fitted, and they seem to be working very well so far, but they haven’t had them through a proper winter yet.
Apparently if fitted well (you might need solid roof beams for that?) they are very quiet and don’t use much electricity. It takes a couple of weeks to feel the benefits though apparently.
Unfortunately we don’t have a roof space or I would probably get one fitted, based on the recommendations of others, because we have big issues with condensation and damp.
I think they are about £300 ish to buy, not sure of the fitting costs?

I bought a Nuaire one a few years ago and it worked a treat; no more condensation and very happy. However it failed after a couple of years, so got a replacement under warranty, again very good. Unfortunately that one failed too after two years and they won't replace it again, so I've gotta fork out another £300...
In answer to your question, they do massively reduce condensation/mould, but don't last as long as they should. Maybe I've been unlucky, but whilst they're working they definitely do the job.

Might suggest a dehumidifier as an alternative. When we lived in a damp cellar in the Lakes, it solved our mould problem in a few days. Still have one where we live now, put it on occasionally to kepp the place fresh, particulalry whe it has days of rain. Had this one 14 years now, good as gold.
We have 2( old damp farmhouse/ Scrooge type landlord ) very good and last well...£200-250.

I've been looking at the vent axia at c £350, it's the one with a heater in it so it blows ambient temperature air in winter.
I'm going to order it today as my window are streaming.
I think from what I've read that I'll need to fit trickle vents in my widows too. Can't be that difficult to fit, I'll just need an electrician to wire it in once it's fitted in my loft.
