Pre season mid season

I'm as tired of losing by the odd goal in games we don't look like winning as the next man but I can't remember a season like this. There are two things that feel unique.

1) Swapping managers at a bad time meaning the incoming manager inherited players new to the club he hadn't signed

2) the incredible turnover mid season that essentially turns this period of the season into a kind of pre season feel with an entire teams worth of players to bed in.

There's definitely been some duff business and like everyone else, the formations are confusing me and I can't understand why we keep setting up lopsided but the squad is light years better than it was when we returned.

On paper (someone can post ''football is played on grass not paper) we are a lot better in a lot of aspects. We seem to now be a decent group of players underperforming as opposed to a bit of a ragtag bunch of players overperforming.

I think if Larry can get a back three of

Thorniley-Heneghan-Moore on the pitch we will see his actual plan. That will allow the two wide centre halves to step out and cover full back, let Bola and Howe or Feeney play wing back but in a balanced way.

Madine will play up top with KaiKai and or Fonz roaming behind and midfielders like Ronan, Virtue, Dewsbury-Hall or Ward to burst forward if Madine can hold the ball up. If we can also get one of them to play in Spearing's role then it's looking like a hungry young team with a lot of pedigree and ability with a squad behind them hungry to get in.

It feels like we've now got a plethora of attacking options and the squad is more athletic. It's also notable that almost all of them have played at a higher level in recent memory and are still young enough to not be anywhere near 'past it' - In fact, of the top of my head I can only think of Super Gnands and Rob Edwards as players who you'd think of as 'league one' players per se.

That sounds to me on paper a side of real quality.

I've posted this largely to try and convince myself of better days around the corner and to convince myself Larry has an actual plan and hasn't just signed 12 players he will jumble around in a neither fish nor fowl formation for the next three months while we all get grumpier and more restless.

I need to see this Thorniley chap before deciding on him but what I've read so far hasn't instilled me with much confidence!
